For anyone who is interested, I have made the changes to the necessary file to make the heroes adventure out to explore and find stuff to kill instead of staying around their guilds the whole time. Their range isn't high enough so that they explore the whole map on some of the big maps, but that can be changed easily.
This should work for version 1.0.97
Download the following file :

Use a program like winrar or totalcommander to copy the file into the following folder and overwrite the existing file (make sure you backup the original file first):
Majesty 2\resource\resource.pak\gameData\units\
