Make the indirect fire line dashed (in addition to being curved)

In some cases, it is hard to tell if the line of fire a mech has is direct or indirect when the line of fire line is drawn.

In most cases, it is easy to tell if the line is flat (direct LOS) or curved (indirect). But in some cases my eyes have told me it is a straight line, so I move and then find I can only fire LRMs.

Having that line also be dashed would be a quick fix to help my (aging) eyes out.

I want this stock so badly. The BTMLColorLoS mod does this and also changes the colors drastically for both IDF and obstructed shots. The dashed line helps so much when I usually play with as much of a "top down" camera as I can. It's so easy to not see the arc if you're looking directly down the line of fire before you confirm the move.

I have played hundreds of hours of this game - and I repeatedly messed up noticing that a LoS is Indirect Fire because I was viewing from overhead.... until I loaded the BTMLColorLoS Mod. Now I only mess up when I forget to reenable BTMLColorLoS after Mod testing :(

Something like BTMLColorLoS really needs to be implemented as part of the base game :p

If the camera angle is too sharply vertical, it is easy to make this mistake. We've all done it.

I believe that at least one mod, Roguetech, IIRC, has changed the color of the firing arc to blue. That is really all we need, it would probably be easier to remedy graphically than dotting the line.

The BTML LoS Firing Line mod allows you to :
  • Change fire line colors (you can pick the colors)
  • Set solid and/or dashed lines
  • Have the line change colors where the LoS is Blocked
  • Allows you to swap colors mid game with a hotkey, just in case the colors you like are hard to see in a particular map
But, yes, I'd be thrilled if HBS/Paradox just implemented different colors in the base game - but no reason all the above couldn't be implemented.

Wouldn't mind seeing the minimum range color change as well - but now I am just getting greedy :D
