Heretic Rebels (Bogomillist, Fraticelli, Lollardy) should attempt to convert nations and provinces to their religion. Countries shouldn't be able to manually convert to these religions, and they should appear in colonies, like the quakers in Pennsylvania. This way, raving mobs of heretics wouldn't just make you cough up some prestige.

I can see all kinds of awkwardness with this (now every heresy needs a symbol and a set of modifiers and ideally a flavour mechanic so that they're not just reskins of their current "parent" religion), which is why I haven't Agree'd, but I have no fundamental objection to the idea.

(Not all the game's heresies can be trivially lifted from the converter files.)

True. But even if the heresies, didn't have flavor mechanics, and were normal religions, the game play would improve.

In my games, total vanilla, about 50% of the time either England or France collapse due to heretic rebels. It's just if you aren't looking for them, you don't notice them since sieged provinces/broken countries don't convert like normal religious rebels.

I believe that now-a-days Religion is something extremely easy and you can, without any effort, survive and thrive through Protestant "revolution" and the Reformation.

I used to go straight for Humanist ideas with an continental European nation for that sweet religious unity bonus and -1 National Unrest I believe.
Now it's just a matter of having high legitimacy and little OE.

This applies to Religious Rebels and Nationalist/Independent Rebels... They are weak, at a certain part of late game, not even 50k Rebels are a problem, you have, at ease, 4 times as many troops and an obscene amount of manpower.

So I would also like to see real threats from Rebels, many stacks of them, to give even more randomness to the world.

Ah yes. The only time I pay any real attention to what's going on in England is if I'm playing France, and in that case they are far more likely to get hosed by me than broken by rebels.

That's why I let them do the hard work for me. Though sometimes me carpet sieging actually pops the heretic rebels.
