Personally I'm kinda sick of the current battle meta, where battles often last long enough for armies to march from five or six provinces away and then join a battle that started ages ago. It makes army manoeuvring and positioning almost worthless in the face of raw numerical superiority, since you can always just bring more troops in part way through the battle and win on morale.

Maybe up the morale damage dealt, and compensate by shrinking the 4-phase wipe window so that not every battle is a complete wipe.

Or maybe just "hide" the dice rolls from player (it's not like the knowledge that I rolled 5 and enemy rolled 7 gives me anything.) and make each day contain 3 phases?

Well I think hiding the dice rolls would be a bad choice, if only because it would make that much harder for new players to understand they won or lost a battle. 3 phases per day would work though.

A complete rework of both land an naval combat needs to happen IMO, but this is a great start, battles should be quick and decisive. If the devs are unwilling to make peace time remotely interesting at least make warfare engaging, not a contest of who can shovel the most men into a province.

I fully agree. In my personal mod I use two days per battle phase instead of three and it makes wars far more interesting and dynamic. It's a simple change in defines for anyone that want to test it.

Yes, the most annoying wars are the ones where 100k friendly troops have to fight 100k enemies and then as soon as their is a battle both sides just chuck all their men at one province and hope for the best. Making a phase 2 days sounds like a good start.
