my dream of playing hoi2 was to play a minor nation like persia/south africa/siam and develop the nation to become a player in the world war 2.

problem was ya needed money to make money.. 5 ic to get 1 ic.

i managed to turn canada to a powerful contender after investing in industry for 5 years. but canada had 30ic to begin with. without a reasonable amount of industry ya can't become a power.

i wondering if there was a way develping industry worked.. as the logic behind developing industry is having industry which doesn't make sense. as where did the first 1ic come from(chicken and the egg?)

another idea would be to seek investment from a western power. abit like how usa boosts britains and china industry though event

I've always been interested in how the Industrial Revolution worked in Vicki...

This really doesn't seem to fit HoI2. It's a wargame, not a nation-building game.

In vicky you can take a country which never had the 1st industrial revolution(i.e. no industry at all) and still make it to the world's first power. In hoI you don't have this possibilty and it's maybe for the better. No new industrial power emerged in the HoI timeframe and for any such power to emerge you need time - even the incredible growth of China took more than 20 years(more than HoI's original timeframe) and the country is still far from being very rich. Also, the HoI's industrial development model focuses on the development of heavy industries(which can be used for war gearing). In the reality the economic power of a nation is not always strongly related to this nation's capability to produce tanks and bombers - in HoI, it is.

I'd rather have more domestic stuff to do than be able to transform El Salvador's economy to be akin to that of Canada's within less than 30 years. :p

Hmm...this is a difficult problem, as small countries generally have 5 IC, and an IC costs 5 IC...even for ComChi, the micro with the best sliders IIRC, it's not possible to build more. I guess we could have an 'Ask for Foreign Investment' event at start of game for all minors that has ai_chance = 0 that takes 50 or so money and gives you 5 IC from the sky...?

Not to nitpick but the SU inherited most of the Russian Empire which by and large had reached its limit of expansion by the start of the 20th century.
'The Middle Ages' ended long before the 20th century though and certainly did not include most of the growth of Muscovy/Russia or England/Britain any more than the 20th century did. Both sides are exaggerating in opposite directions.

Well I think it should be a more viable strategy (if not the only way) to take over the world piece by piece by pauseing a few Years after each major conquest to consolidate the gains (expand Infra & Bases and such).

That's basically the classic mistake everyone always made in history, expanding to quickly to fast outside their capacity. If you however pause to expand that capacity, then it should be possible to get much further. This is how the Romans & Chinese grew so large, by building roads and protecting their gains (Consolidating your gains at those times meant building fortresses & walls instead of "bases").

If you want to cheat, just edit the IC production multiplier of your country in the savegame file.

Instead of 1.0, put 0.5 until you reach 10 IC, when you reach 10 IC, modify it again to 0.6 and so again until it reaches 1.0 again when you have 50 IC.

It speeds up the process without destroying the whole equilibrium of the game and allow you to play the tough guy with Persia by mid 40's...:p

That´s my house rule when I play as a minor. Sure, by 1960 I´ve usually only conquered a few small countries. But it´s fun and kinda more plausible.
