now this became really annoying lately, especially for tanks.
Theoretically you can control the facing of a vehicle by holding the right mouse-button and dragging it into the main-vision-direction.
Okay, so fine so good.

It just doesn't work if the vehicle is already at the position, where it belongs, but facing in the wrong direction, thus having to turn first before being able to engage for example.
This is actually something that must be implemented in a game that is all about controlling your own units to its fullest.

I agree with the OP, the maneuvering into specific positions with the unit facing a specific desired direction is too finicky, "time consuming" and can lead to awkward unit movement exposing the unit unnecessarily - a problem actually underlined by the awesome LOS-Tool, because it helps the player pick the best spots.

A "Rotate / Face Towards" button would greatly help units that can turn on the spot such as AT guns and tracked vehicles!

Use REVERSE to control the facing of your tank. Always reverse away from threats.

To move forward and control the facing you can either click to move and it will face the direction it should move, or use the ATTACK MOVE

I have more issue with the amount of control already allowed. The tanks hulls rotate way too quickly and can snap almost instantly into any direction you need. This feels like wargame modern tanks. Not world war 2 tanks

Tanks will also automatically turn to face the nearest threat even if they can't spot the enemy, they seem to be completely omniscient when it comes to facing.

I swear I could have seen them turn to face a enemy right before they shoot bounce it and then turn their face to the other gun right about to fire on them and bounce it as well. I wasn't sure if I was the only one who noticed it..but it seems like the AI knows who's gonna shoot and when to face and when to turn, etc. It makes no sense.

Wanting more ability to control the facing doesn't seem for me to solve the problem of all knowing World War 2 tanks with the ability to turn their hull like a M1A1. However more control over facing and less AI all knowing would be a much better change.

Tanks turning too fast and avoiding side shot is know "problem" (well for me at least).

But the simple way they can do for choosing where to face is:
right click where you want your unit to go (as usual), or right click on your unit actual location in order to stay still,
keep the mouse button pressed and choose the direction you want to face.

Many games does this already.
