Majesty Gold Edition

So... I didnt see a forum for the old game. I bought M2, and got the original Gold edition as well for free through Steam. M2 runs fine. However, the original game looks horrible on my PC, as I move my mouse aroudn it creates black streaks, and I can't see the buttons to choose stuff let alone navigate through the menus. I am assuming my PC is too new? I have Win7 65bit Intel Core i7. No biggy, .. just read that a lot of people like it, and it would be nice to play it. Any idead on how I could still try it? I thought running in WinXP mode? But... that option is not present in the icon on desktop that works through Steam. Thanks for any help!!!

I have winXp and runs well, it´s worth to be played; it has many many things M2 hasn´t and should have had.

Try finding the actual .exe that the shortcut runs, then right click on it, select properties, then the compatibility tab at top, then change to Windows XP. Save, and run the .exe (or shortcut). Might help. The game is definitely worth trying everything to get it working as it is fantastic (or was years ago when I played it).

EDIT: FYI, there is a sticky'd thread you passed over in order to post this. Did you by chance read it? Lots of good info in there.

Disable the directdraw acceleration for that game. That should fix that bug. You might also want to switch it to only once core and set the compatibility to 98.
