They change a lot, yes, and I don't like it neither in many points, but are you sure you are up to date? The elven skin colour will be blue (confirmed in this thread I think), it was just some early sketches in which it was not.

Do peasant houses increase the number of peasants?
If not, what does? (I think I remember a screenshot where a level 1 palace had 12 and another where a level 1 palace had 20...).

Not sure if this has been asked before:

Will there be multiple difficulty levels to chose from when starting a campaign as opposed to or combined with different difficulty levels for the maps themselves?

And if so, will harder difficulties translate directly to better AI (that would be awesome, but I'm not expecting it) or simply artificial bonusses (expected)?

(More seriously, from what I've seen it's like a HoMM2.5 with upgraded graphics and with the Nature and Monster towns replaced by Wood Elf and Dark Elf exports from Warhammer. Now, I understand that a lot of people saw HoMM4 as a failed experiment and -3 as the peak of the series, but they could at least have kept the options for each town to have both a Might hero and a Magic hero.)

I think the reasoning is because Maj2 actually allows opposing factions to coexist (albeit with some issues). This means you may not necessarily be presented with a choice, especially if they haven't found a good way for elves and dwarves to have issues with the presence of gnomes.

Really? What was your build progression and what was your starting conditions? I've found the requirements for Dwarves and their cost were too prohibitive in most of my freestyle play, starting at various Master levels and 10,000 starting gold.

There is no Master level in freeplay and the ones in campaign are easy.
If you pick up random expert you will start with 10k no buildings and ice dragons and yetis will attack you on second game day, good luck!

- What was reason for taking out berserker state from heroes? It was interesting aspect of behavior and one of reason of implementing "change of heart" spell so for mere 400g your rogue would not die eating dragon breath :p.
- What Magic Bazaar offer? If magic potions will heroes will use them smarter than in M1 where they would drink them when there was no reason for them (f.e. rat fight). In M1 heroes would go bankrupt on it and had no money to buy other stuff.

Alternatively, you could just fix the AI. Berserking heroes used to drive me absolutely bonkers, because they'd do it in situations where it made no sense at all, and usually wound up killing themselves for no reason. Even from a simulationist perspective, berserking should only occur once a hero is really angry, and that's a level of emotional modelling that was completely absent from the game.

Berserking in M1 is working as intended and it is natural state, it was opposite to "flee in terror" but i agree that it occur little too often but remove it? Big no no from me, it is like removing "coward state", dumbing this game even more.

Wizard upgrading his staff to gold was awesome :p.

In campaign i always go Dwarves i just love them even well placed their building can save you lots of trouble, just try them you love them :D. In exp only two missions i would label as hard krolm's one and "safe elves" rest are interesting and fun to play but not hard if you know what to do :p.

- could you write something about barbarians? For example how they are attractive instead of other heroes because in M1 they were unattractive.

Paladins do? I don't remember seeing it myself. Solari certainly do, however, and I think Adepts do as well.

Monks seem to be the most likely to do it, possibly because they don't spend gold on much else.

It was the only reason here: the Katauri Company is very skilled and competitive in UI design. They just have finished their last project ( http://kingsbounty.ru/ ), and it was a good chance to hire them for redoing the M2's UI graphic design.

Well, your question was "will warriors use their shields........."
A shield is a part of hero's equipment. Heroes will use their shields, as well as they will use other parts of their equipment.

Library problem is sad thing, i know that paladins, monks, cultists and sisters could learn spells but they do it so rare TT.
Wizards CANNOT visit the blacksmith. Gold staves would have to come from lair drops.
Also; yes. Paladins cannot learn the Library spells (but they can get the MGR-boost).

As for my personal preference: I think I would like some AI/Party-examples in a possible new gameplay movie.

What's the stats? Also be sure that "random" maps annoyingly use the Events set up in Custom, instead of picking... well... random ones.
For that alone I always pick custom over random.

In Russian the word "ammunition" (амуниция) is similar in meaning to the word "equipment".

As Hassat said, some AI decisions and party combat would be nice, the new UI when you're ready to show it and some of the physics in combat would be great too.


Question: Will the heroes make vocal "pointers" to what they're thinking, deciding and doing? If a hero makes a decision to go home to rest - will there be a chance the hero states he's tired or will there only be an icon showing the state the hero's in, i e a "tired" icon?
