I just vented about the Clerks being more a nuisance then a asset. The same applies to Maintenance Drones for Machine intelligences - just in a different way.

The efficiency:
It does not suffer from the issue of having bad production. +5 Amenities is a solid amount.
Basically the Maintenance drone is 1/2 a Entertainer as far as Amenities are concerned. And it is the main producer for Machine Intelligences. Wich actually leeds to a new problem: There is no higher order Amenity Jobs.

Clerks are worker jobs.
Entertainers are Specialist Jobs
And there are even some Ruler jobs that can give a solid buffer of Amenities to make clerks unessesary
In this scenario Clerks are a fallback, that a lot of the time I can totally turn off.

Maintenance Drones are Simple Drone Jobs
There are no Amenity producing jobs anywhere in the Complex Drone jobs (as far as I could find.

At least for Clerks, I can completely shut them off. But for maintenance drones? No such luck!

Numbers:
There also seems to be more of them then even Clerks!

I get +3 from baseline City Districts. Luckiy no additional ones from Traditions (except the Edict one).
But having 9, 13 or more early game is very common.
I guess those numbers make some sense, given that there is no Maintenance Hub building so those are my only sources. But still, early game there is a lot of wasted potential.

Adaptation of the Clerk solutions:
Moving them around will not change a lot - if anything I need them on the City districts, to have a efficient, spamable source.
The Automatic disabling/removal and addition of Maintenance Drone Slots makes the most sense I think
