Also, while it's worthwhile to do that eventually as Castile/Spain, you shouldn't do that too early. Just because you have 1 province there, it doesn't mean you also have the trade power to collect a meaningful chunk of the trade there. Actually, I wouldn't even do this until you've formed Spain, as you have to funnel the trade through the Valencia node too, which is controlled by Aragon, and you can't transfer trade power from PUs. You can also feed Aragon a little, as he has claims in the Genoa node from his mission tree, but don't overdo it, otherwise he'll have more than the number of provinces the decision to form Spain allows for and you won't be able to inherit him for free.

Once you have him and control a number of trade centers in Genoa, you can start thinking about moving your trade capital there. You can find the button near the top left of the province interface, and it costs 200 dip.

This. Consolidate a little in that node, get Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Genoa proper, Aix for good measure etc. before collecting in there and steering everything from Seville into it, otherwise you're gonna be bringing in a ton of value into the node only for the italians to eat your lunch.

You auto collect in your capital trading node without the need for a merchant.
You really only want to move your trade capital if your (trade power multiplied by the total trade value of the node) is bigger. This is why it can be good to move to a more valuable trade node even with less trade power.
Then there’s plenty of other things than can affect trade but this is the main thing. If you only have one province in the Genoa trading node it’s extremely unlikely you can make more money doing this. Feeding trade into a node you only have 1 province in is more likely just gonna benefit other nations. You can compete somewhat with trade steering ships but it’s not gonna be worth it.
Moving trade capital without moving capital is DLC dependent but you can do it for diplo mana if you have the DLC.

If you get Navarra as a PU I wouldn't worry about overfeeding Aragon, you will inherit them both

That's true, but I'd say the Navarra PU is suboptimal. It ties up a relation slot for 50 years, or if you wait to inherit, 50 plus the time until ruler death, on an OPM. Plus, depending on when you got the IW, you might even inherit it before the 50 years with Aragon are up, since the Navarra PU happens usually in the first 2-3 years of the game. However, the free integration of Aragon can happen regardless how long the PU started, once you've hit tech 10. I usually try to vassalize Navarra, that way you end up with a PU with him, regardless he goes under you or Aragon, and you can integrate him after 10 years, freeing up the relation slot.

No, I disagree. One relation slot for 50 years will cost you 600 diplo points, even after 100 it is still 1200.
1.it works with other PUS as well, like Naples and Portugal (if you are lucky)and those can easily mean +1000 points saved trying to inherit them
2. Navarre mission tree givesthem a core on Labourd and then claims on Gascony. The only cost is giving them viscaya
3.inheriting Aragon means you can conquer Provence, Genoa, Tunis and others for then without caring for the province limit

Seizing bordeaux from england, releasing gascony, reconquest vs france far faster than piecemeal navarra
