I think it's strange too. EUIII runs flawlessly. HoI3 stutters, the clock doesnt go fluently but stops every few hours and continues (at a different speed). So day one could take 10 seconds, day two could take 17 day three could take 8. Really annoying behavior.

Been playing again for the last hour, I can now feel how sluggish it is, I can bare it and hopefully the patch will optimise better but I can definately feel it.

EU3 and Rome Tore through this however isn't the case.

Well, the releaseday patch has quite some optimisations done.

But it is weird that some people with highend machines get lag problems while people at lower pc's run it flawlessly.

"Flawlessly" for different people mean different things, maybe the man got small lag but can play game pretty well, he will say he is running flawlessly..

Will it be the OS? On a gut feeling none of the Win7RC people complained on lag. Most lag report was on XP and significantly fewer on Vista (This surprises be a bit). Did you make a perf report matrix on reported memory, OS, proc, graphics? It can bring surprising results.

You know why more people complains on lag on win xp? Because people with slow mashines rarely uses win7 and most people who have win7 got pretty good computers. I got win7 and I still got lag.

Imo if you got something higher than a medium pc then the lag is more from the game side.

Strange indeed on this laptop:
amd turion 64x2
tl-58(1,9ghz 2x 512 kb l2 cache)
up to 752mb nvidia geforcec7000m turbocache
2gb ddr2
320gb dual hard disk
Vista

The game lag even on the map screen when you choose side. The game is totally unplayable it take 40-50secs for 1 game hour not to mention the slide show and the fact i hear the click sound 10 secs latter.

On the other hand on my old pc:
2,8 single core intel
1024 ddr
saphire1660 512mb video card
XP
The game runs at least twice as good.I scroll the map without any lag.

Could someone suggest what should i upgrade on my old pc to make the game run better CPU or RAM?Any official word?

The 7000m is pretty poor if I remember correctly.

I went to the command line, and I forced the demo to only run on a single core, and that seemed to fix the map scrolling issue for me (before, it was either unresponsive, or jumped halfway across the world). Now, it scrolls around really nicely, unfortunately, even at max speed, the game still crawls at about 15-16 seconds a day.

Intel Core2-Quad Q8200 2.33Ghz
4GB Ram
9800GTX+
Vista Ultimate 64-bit

In comparison a month in EU3 takes about 2-3 seconds on this machine.

Yea - thats what im afraid of. But still - alot of ppl with high end machines are having lag issues. Should be fixable. And its pretty paramount for PI to do so i would think.

My Spec are:
Windows XP
3 Ghz Dual Core
4 GB DDR2 RAM
512 MB Nvidia 9800 GTX+
(Nothing running in background and Drivers ok)

Yea - Empire Total War was unplayable for atleast a week (bugs and massive loading times) i remember

I have a similar system [Vista 32Bit, E6850 C2D @ 3 Ghz, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, 512MB ATI 4870] but have experienced no problems.

some of the "lag" can also be attributed to the game WAD, just that it's different than HOI II. I can't remember my specs (total loser on computers) but I bought my computer in Jan 2006, and it's running the game just fine. Of course, don't know what late game will do, but I think that some of the controls the devs have put in place will mean that the AI won't be building mega-stacks in every country. Kinda funny in HOI II to see Haiti have like 5 infantry divisions.
