After several weeks and countless hours spent with this game Im utterly and completely bored.

Campaign is old, challenges are all beaten, most of my PvP opponents are comlete noobs and those few who actually can play are already on my friend list and even if we manage to get together a game, it is decided by who is hosting.

There is no matchmaking with player ratings (and no reliable way to even play PvP for that matter). There are no new DLC and game modes that could make the game more interesting and comlex (we need DOTA style map).

I predict that future DLC will all be just new robes and maps that add almost nothing to gameplay, there may be some balance patches but nothing big and... thats all.

Before I started playing Magicka, I played LoL for two years (and some HoN too). Now I will have to quit on Magicka after only like 3 months. Please dont let Magicka die as I really need a PvP game to play on daily basis and DOTA 2 is coming in 2012.:(

Just imagine the fact there are peolpe who didn't get bored after 8 months of playing ;)

The core problem is the unreliability of internet games and the lack of a ladder.

According to what you said, you'd seem to be a good PvP opponent for me. Let's fight ;-)

Well, one thing I've done to keep things somewhat fresh is to play through the campaign with a set of rules that gimp me. For instance, my Magicka Ironman rules:

1. Choose a robe for element focus.
2. Allowed spell magnitude(mag) starts at 1 and rises every 2 chapters.
3. Max allowed elements per spell starts at 1 and rises every 3 chapters
4. Haste is allowed one use per battle, Nullify is allowed 2, Teleport is allowed 3. Revive is allowed one use per chapter/party wipe.
5. Specialty Magicks gain one extra use per 2 chapters
6. Armor for non-earth/cold focus and checkpoint stones are illegal.
7. No duplicate robes.
8. Fully charged casts only (exceptions: Ice Shards and lobbed shots)

Primary - Mag 1, Secondary - Mag 0, Tertiary - Mag -1
(Mag = Magnitude, the number conjurations in a spell)

1. Arcane, Black Robes:
Daemon Arm, Morgul Blade, Vortex
-Life Beam restricted

2. Water, Blue Robes:
Staff of Invisibility, Seaward Spear, Lightning Storm
-Cold is automatically 1 mag below water
-Lightning Restricted

3. Earth, Brown Robes:
Goblin Staff, Mace of the Earth, Meteor Shower
-Lightning Restricted

4. Blood, Bergundy Robes:
Vlad's Gauntlet, Exotic Blade, Summon Death
-Life Restricted

5. Druid, Green Robes
Gnarled Staff, RotP, Rain(once) & TBolt & Charm & Summon Elemental
-Arcane, Cold, Steam restricted
-Can't make shield-based barriers

6. Generalist, Grey Robes:
Staff of War, Sharp Blade, Revive
-Maximum of mag 4
-2 primaries, 2 secondaries, 2 Tertiaries

7. Heart, Pink Robes
Sceptre of the Troll King, Sharp Blade, Charm
-:p

8. Imbue Master, Orange Robes:
Staff of Deflection, Knife of Counter-Striking, Nullify
-+1 to all magnitude for Imbue
-Force Cast Restricted

9. Lightning, Purple Robes:
Tesla Staff, Skyward Spear, Thunder Bolt
-Water or Earth restricted

10. Fire, Red Robes :
Staff of Fire, Blade of Surt, Conflagration
-Cold restricted

11. Cold/Ice, Teal Robes:
Aristo-Staff, Frost Cleaver, Tornado & Blizzard
-Fire Restricted

12. Life, White Robes:
Staff of the White Wizard, Thunderblade, Thunder Bolt
-No Revive restriction
-Arcane Beam restricted

The rules themselves (to some extent) are something I would love to mod into the game to make them easier to follow as well as the robe starting items/restrictions but it's not possible for me to do it. I would love make some kind of grueling challenge mod for the campaign though, that's for sure. However, given that I can't and rules this complicated are a bit annoying for someone to remember I'd avoided posting such a thing. Perhaps you'd like to try it with me Tomi? :p

For a game that cost, was it £10? Achievement I think :)
I've played £30 games and got bored after 3 hours as they're identical to most others games :D

Similar to you, I like to place self-imposed rules in order to make games more interesting. In case of Magicka that would go along the lines of not using too powerful spells, or passing Vietnam with different weapon set where use of spells is limited to buffs (i.e. haste) and shields.

Also, I like to keep my gaming exp fresh by switching between games. That way I never get tired of games I like. For example, I still play some oldies such as Neverwinter and Max Payne.
