[MacOS] Mouse click not always registrering correctly

Hi there. Whenever I play PA on MacOS and I try to click with the mouse, it doesn't always register correctly. It takes a 'longer' click to register which makes playing the game more of a chore because of the attention you have to direct on clicking the mouse long enough.

I tried reinstalling the game, verified the game files but this all wouldn't help fixing this problem. I have the game on Steam

I just tried my copy on my iMac and did not see this.

Has it always happened ever since you've had the game?

Do you have access to any other machine to try it on?


Please send in the game log
~/Library/⁨Application Support/⁨Prison Architect/debug.txt
To find that file, in Finder do cmd-shift-G to bring up the GOTO box. In there paste ~/Library/⁨Application Support/⁨Prison Architect/ .

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

Thank you for your reply! No, it didn't happen before. This happened for me around the time after Paradox bought the rights for the game. I tried it on a Windows machine which doesn't have this problem. It does however have the problem that some of the area's in the screen are not clickable, I fixed that somehow.

The strange thing is, this 'mouseclick issue' happens on the native app and on GeForce NOW, which I use to stream the game sometimes. The clicking issue however doesn't have any effect on my system itself.

I see that it is also only the left mouse button which has this delay

According to that log you have 70 mods in use ... ! best to unsubscribe from ALL of them, and delete the folder ‎⁨ ~/⁨Library⁩ ▸ ⁨Application Support⁩ ▸ ⁨Prison Architect⁩ ▸ ⁨mods⁩

Then see if you still get that issue with a new prison - NOT any existing one. Assuming not, as I suspect, you can add them back a few at a time to see which ones might be the problem.

Thanks Andrew! I deactivated them all but maybe that wasn’t the solution. I will unsubscribe from all my mods and try again, I’ll let you know how it works out.

It didn't work unfortunately. I unsubscribed from all my mods, deleted the folder you mentioned (and also deleted the whole PA folder which was there), reinstalled the game and rebooted my Mac. The same problem still exist. It shows up when I click 'Guard Response' or any of the buttons around there. This is the problem in which a fast click doesn't register correctly. The problem also arises when I try to drag walls or try to select a couple of guards.

E.g.
- Select a wall (fast click works)
- Drag the wall
- Actual wall dragging begins slightly later than clicking resulting in wrong placement of the wall

There is a small delay before it registers. It does however work when I press longer but this isn't ideal to play with in mind all the time. Is it possible for you to recreate this? And would there be another way to fix this problem?

Hi Andrew, completely wiping MacOS and my data and reinstalling MacOS fixed this issue. It works like a charm now (and the added benefit of a clean system)
