Colonial Warfare

The goal of colonial warfare is a more dynamic colonial scene, with nascent colonial powers getting a chance at securing decent colonies, rather than the "early" colonisers (Spain, Portugal mainly) getting it all. It is also meant to give smaller countries a chance at securing colonies from a bigger european power (Ofcourse, it might anger the bigger power so much he later declares a "normal" war)
Following the following rules, I hope, will provide us with a decent sence of colonial warfare (Discussion encouraged, untill monday evening CET, then it WILL be finalised)


1. Any ally can be called into the conflict (code allies, so max. 2 human players on one side)
2. The attacker declares the region he intends to fight over. (No changing, so if you wish to call upon allies, discuss it with them prior to declaring)
3. The defender may choose a second region in which to fight, no limitations, except Europe, ofcourse.(If he is content with the one region, thats OK too)
4. Other parties MAY declare their own separate (colonial) wars against the ones in conflict, but I would advice against this. (That is to say, you won't get kicked for doing it, but it won't earn you credit)

When do we cancel the campaign/session when/if enough players can't be found? I suggest after 15 minutes with the motivation that what can't be fixed during the week shouldn't/can't be fixed during playing time.

My suggestion is we all show up 20.00 and we all leave, in my case permanently, at 20.15 if we haven't started by then, ok? No hard feelings but either we play or we don't.

EDIT: I sent requests to some 30 EU2 players on my ICQ list regarding Spain.

well, as I said, in theory we have TWO subs ready (Jarkko and Cambion) and only one open country, so we should be good.(that is, assuming noone decide to leave without telling me)

I suggest we start gathering at around 19.45CET, so that we have, in theory, 15 minutes BEFORE the game starts, to gather everyone. if it's 20.15CET and we still don't have enough, and don't have people on the way to join, then we make the decission to play or not. If we miss a not-too-fighting country, that country can be made offlimits. but 2 would be the absolute maximum.

ok, looks like we are going with the "a" version then, with Poland still allied, and no CB.

I must say, though, that if it had been brought up before the game, I would probably have supported the idea for a CB.

at the moment I dropped I had 20-30k troops in your territory fighting mere hundreds of turks, with no other Turks in sight :p
and more troops were sieging or on watch in home territory.

To set the matters straight:

-Lala Mahmud never dropped below 5k. At lowest it had some 500 infantry and 4500 cavalry. I don't know where you got the idea of "few hundreds", but it sure hasn't to do anything with the situation!

-The 12k Austrians (with 9k cavary) valiantly marched into a trap. Lala Mahmud was reinforced by 25k infantry, and the mountains were the Austrians were marching were taken only days earlier by newly recruited 30k infantry supported with 30 artillery and 3k cavalry. Charging up the mountains the Austrians were killed.

VERY ODD, I saw Lala Mahmud in Maros with "1" armysize, retreating on Transylvania, with my troops already there, besieging, and no other troops AT ALL in the region. then the fight started.. and I crashed.
Imagine my surprise when i saw 20k ottomans RETREATING from Maros when we rehosted.
SOMETHING was very much screwed there.. and it probably explains why I crashed.. as I were then at that point fighting an army according to the host, but not according to me.
