Old beta. Everyone who's installed the newest patch needs to put a fresh copy of EU II on the hard drive.

I think we're ready to go, other than that. I'm going to try and finish the game's PAR tonight (got distracted by the excellent idea for Darkness Over Europe) and I'll see you all at 1900 GMT sharp. Let's make this first session a benchmark from which we can slide over them next few months.

Make sure to watch the first post. I will be posting saves there and nowhere else to encourage consistent viewing, and that's where you'll find the rules (Post #2 now) and Quick Guide.

The CTD bug of the new patch is apparantly due to the straight implementation and it will be fixed "during the evening". That might be until 20.00 CET but who knows. I will keep a clean install with 1.07 handy to add one of the 2 patches according to what has been fixed but it seems plausible that we have to go with the older beta at least for today.

I thought everyone was going to put something in the AAR thread before the start of the campaign. On the other hand you have all day.

I will try write something more fancy there, but as far as England is concerned, our goals are (in no particular order):
- strengthen the economy, with the special care dedicated to trade; perhaps we manage to even control some trade...
- become stronger naval power
- return posessions in Normandy and Aquitaine to their rightful owners, English nobility
- crush those Scotish thiefs once and for all
- explore the world (or as much of it as possible)
- start colonising new lands
- the religious situation is very unstable and could even cause a new civil war; perhaps we should give more influence on the religious matters to the state

I don't know, maybe it is just me, but somehow I have my doubts about these sabre-rattling, "I will teach you a lesson", etc. propaganda coming lately from France directed and England and vica-versa. I will be more convinced if these words are underpinned by some REAL actions as well.

If you were right, France and England would be discussing all those issues behind scenes I can assure you NOTHING is agreed regarding Scotland or Calais.
Besides, if I were Spain I would be more concerned about another English goal mentioned above

The King of France wonders why Spain is so concerned with english and french matters. Charles should be more concerned with the growing threath in the east, instead of petty matters in western europe.

I'm willing to play with the newest beta (if Johan gets it up) if only for the playtesting it will provide Johan with almost immediately.. but I guess we'll be stuck with the older patch (which would be VERY unfortunate, esp. for those intending to block straits)

One thing I didn't particularly like in all my MP games so far were gifts.

Now, before you stop reading and accuse me of stingyness, think about it: is it really realistic to receive so MUCH money as gifts?

What I would like is we to use loans as much as possible. They can be favourable, at really low interest rate (1%) and on the long period. And don't have to be repaid if agreed.

Juv's idea with bank of Venice is indeed interesting and could contribute signifficantly to the game.

I only got xp pro recently, so I can't figure something out.

It won't let me install EUII again! When I go into setup, it says Europa Universalis II is already on this computer, and automatically aborts it. No OS I've ever had has acted like that.

Anyone know how I can bypass this and install a second time?
