Simple. Provence is the coastal province with the highest tax value. Explorers always appear there. In most cases this makes sense, too. Portugals explorers appear in Lissabon, Englands in London, Spains in Andalusia, Hollands in Amsterdam, Swedens in Stockholm, and should Austria get an explorer with an Austrian Netherlands setup he would appear in Flanders.

AFAIK, this is only valid for historical explorers, the random ones can pop up everywhere. (happened to me several times before);)

Wasn't there rules published for how you were allowed to behave in this game and thread?

Am I an ignorant of the English language if I believe that using the word "bullshit" when characterizing another player's writings constitutes a breach of this rule?

"Idiotic" appears to speak for itself.

What has Uglyduck to say about this?

now.. just my 2 cents:
- the hinterpommern core WAS announced before the game it would be removed.. it could have been discussed then, but it wasn't, or hardly.. so this is basically not a question at all.
- any brandenburg province that is NOT a brandenburg core, is available for conquest (no need to let Brandenburg start out as a 10 province country because noone was allowed to keep it in check)
- holding Hungary hostage because of the north-German issue was VERY bad RP, and a lot of "meta-game-thinking".
fact: Hungary and Poland were allied
fact: Austria had some claims to the Hungarian crown, and thus had reason to defend it.
However, Poland not coming to the aid of Hungary because Austria will inherit Hungary if it stays alive, and Austria not liking Polish expansion does not make sense....(however it is covered up in AARs afterwards, this IS what happened)
but thats just my viewpoint.. please enlighten me if it is different...

North-German issue being Poland allowed to annex 3(!) HRE provinces. And before that Venice being allowed to annex Mantua... At the first sight that doesn't look too much as "protecting the HRE" to me.
But I have full confidence in the Emperor that now, when Austria is consolidated and much stronger, he will take firmer position in the matter. In fact, from what happened in Hingary, it looks like he already started ;).

Wyvern,

That's that, I guess...

Even if in the end, Wyvern decides, this doesn't mean he shouldn't pay attention to the players.

After all, this is a cooperative game. We attempt to play *together* rather than against eachother.

If this "love it or leave it" attitude prevails, you'll risk running out of players for this game.

Yes, it was VERY interesting to see all those cascade DOWs after Habsburgs DOWed France - clearly everyone was just waiting the moment Emperor to look into another direction to start settling their small affairs :D.

It was little you could have done than, but as I said, I have full confidence in the Emperor intentions and newly acquired strength...

Barnius,

You'd said you didn't see any foreign jacks in the southern Atlantic... I'm just giving notice that you weren't paying enough attention. ;)

The Emperor has heard tell of this "Table" and would very much like to send his friend Cortez to check it out... :D

Somehow, I suspect that if some other's player's country had suddenly had one of their essential cores removed and then forbidden from expanding in a certain direction out of the blue, they would be just as pissed off.

Furthermore, Wyvern never said I could take Hinterpommern, just not annex one of Brandenburg's cores. If that was the case, I wouldn't have minded so much. No, Wyvern said that you must conclude a white peace immediately with Brandenburg. Despite it taking a province I need for strategic reasons.

Basically, Wyvern completely turned my entire plans for Poland on it's ear by such a drastic reworking of the situation. Suddenly Brandenburg is inviolate so I can't expand at all into the HRE anymore and I lose my core on Hinterpommern to boot.

The reason why Poland had the core, was because in this time, MANY Polish nobles lived in Hinterpommern and owned land there. The same situation was in Silesia. Poland even owned parts of Hinterpommern (like the bottom 1/3rd of it) and it had a substantial Polish population. Which is why in the AGC, there is an event which makes it turn polish culture if captured.

I've already said the above, yet Wyvern claims no reason has been given for why it shouldn't be changed. Well, no reason has been given why it SHOULD be changed!!

Thanks for your effort! Still, I have one more problem that I forgot to mention...remember that pausing over uncontrolled message popping up? Well, while trying to get rid of them, I also accepted Malaccan suggestion to form the alliance :( .
I could live with the alliance itself if needed, but could you edit it so that Portugal is the alliance leader? I tried to get rid of it, but for some reason I can’t leave the alliance…

Barnius, seriously, that is asking a bit too much. How come You have such good relations with Malacca anyway???, I hope You did not trade maps with them, AFAIK that would be against the rules. :(
Besides, they gonna DoW someone in their neighbourhood soon, just do not honour the call. an voila, ;)

He is their neighbour....

In fact, Portugal owns most of the Malaccan real estate upon startup, and Portugal is a very strong nation (compared to Malacca). I am not surprised that they would extend an inviation. As for map trading, I am certain the Barnius would never do that as it would 1) be against the rules, and 2) unnecessary. Portugal knows most of the important real estate already and can find the rest with her plentyful explorers.
