While it would not completely remove the issue of bias it would most likely ameliorate it.

wouldn't it be best if they were in the opposite ends of the 'world' so they would have as little to do with eachother as possible.

Portugal and Russia, for example, or England and ottomans.

OR two countries who are bound to get into conflict.. even if they're biassed it will even out :)

but the "opposite ends" approach probably works better.

Given the level of abuse the GM appears to be destined to suffer and my work schedule for the next two months, I have no intentions of volunteering. I nominate Wyvern. (TAG! You're it :D)

-----------------

Btw. Now that France is attempting to form a Grand Alliance for its next unrighteous war (all other nations in the game to attack the Central European Defensive Alliance at the same time), it would be practical to know the player list for next session: England, Ottomans, and Russia in particular.

Oh, and I vote for not letting the laggard Russian players, who never post Russian AARs, play in Machiavelli 2. Sorry, but the silence from the east has been deafening.

Who plays OE, England and other nations next time?

England has had a steady player in Aldo for a few sessions now and I really don't think he wants to miss the last session after building up to it for a few sessions now :D

OE is free, needs a sub, got bashed a bit bad last session. Other nations, the same as last session, I suppose?

Of course, and a good mod, but he insists he has no time :D

(It'd be quite good though, being England and Russia, the fact he always is there, and the fact we don't agree on many issues :D)

Smirfy will be missing for quite a bit so much he didn't even want to play France. U can hardly be GM in such a case. Even though he'd do fine, not to mention agree with me a lot :D

Oh, and I vote for not letting the laggard Russian players, who never post Russian AARs, play in Machiavelli 2. Sorry, but the silence from the east has been deafening.

The problem is of course, if u are GM anyway, to find good players :D I can't do it, which is why certain people who aren't suited for the game really, end up playing. Sometimes with less than optimal effects but those are still better than no players. If anything is needed it is someone who can dig up such players.

Even some of the hardcore regulars of this game have been somewhat lacking in either showing up, AARing or such. Is it only Spain and Austria who were there every session with AAR? I mean, it's a far cry from the ideal :D (Not that some players at time didn't have good excuses - some of the others lined up are real assets)

Also, I wouldn't brush aside some of the subs who performed nicely in, well, subbing like some of the supposed regulars who turned in shyte appearances. That's not what we get them in for or what I expect from a sub. Sadly however, Russia mostly has been played by such subs. But to every sub I would like to extend a thank you as their help is very appreciated and they shouldn't be blamed for the ineptitude of some of the supposed regulars.

I must agree, although they hardly accept any of my proposals :( :p

I am sorry, but I will most likely not be able to play on tuesday. However, I will leave clear notes for my sub. Most likely in a form of an AAR outlining the current Dutch position in Europe.

TO be exact, England was building up from the beginning. THe only real war she had, if I am not mistaking, was that one when Spain attacked her with her armada in late 16th century.

Hah, arh well I did raise the issue I guess so serves me right, though I didn't actually have myself in mind to fulfil the roll :). I will stand alongside BiB though in the next game if that is the considered wish of the players. If the majority just want to go with BiB as single GM I understand and that's fine too. I suggested the idea really just as a way to hopefully avoid a repeat of how we lost Slarkko as we did last week.

No, England was a right shithole when Spain started funding it come 1650 :D Tremendous amounts of money and efforts have gone into Britain from Spain with so far nothing to show for in return but there's still a last session for the UK to show at least an ounce of gratitude :D

Just to let you know there is still someone who red whole thread and did it recently - hm, this will probably create questions like: is he sane? :))
Sometimes I wonder if all players in Mach red this whole thing judging by their comments :)
But generally a very interesting and well played game
Hope I will have a chance to read the final years before again dissapear from those boards for a very long time
Anyway it was fun reading I imagine it must be even better playing. Will wait for conclusions.

In this campaign it looks like Spain was funding almost every country (is Netherlands the only exception? :D). I would really like to know the exact numbers, but more important, the RPG excuses :), because I am not sire something like that was seen in history. For example, if Spain gives someone money and is than betrayed, she should demand compensation and eventually go to war or something. I guess I want to say such large scale fundings should be included in AARs.

And regarding gratitude, let me inform you it is highly overrate - you most often don't get a just return after paying in advance :D. As for England, she has her destiny to fulfill: to become ruler of the seas. With Nelson and the rest of her admirals it will be piece of cake.

Thank's for encouragement :). We will try to finish it in a good spirit as it started.
