There was a previous thread on this that I can't find, but there is no version for osx or linux planned. I really hope they do it eventually though, as keeping your engine compatible with other operating systems protects you against market changes in the future. If the newest Eugen title doesn't offer linux support, I am skeptical about it in the future.

It goes against previous example, and Steam itself is spearheading a big push for gaming on other operating systems. A few years ago there were not so many titles for gaming on osx and linux, but now many popular games are available. In my experience I have better performance on linux as long as there are drivers available for the graphics card. So if anyone at Eugen reads this I hope you reconsider, I know it costs money and time to do such a thing but it pays off over a longer time. Plus, it is likely the demographic that plays Eugen titles has a higher percentage of people that would consider other operating systems than an average game.

@Tom_Seaver : Fortunately, SD44 works quite well using BootCamp. Don't even bother using Parallels, OpenBox, or Fusion because you won't get the video performance you need.

FWIW, I have a late model 2015 MacBook Pro with a Radeon GPU chip (specs out to just above Eugen-stated bare minimum requirements) and I run Windows 10 on a small partition. I made sure to optimize the GPU in its settings application (turn on antaliasing, but push the settings balance towards performance over quality). Also, forget using a track pad, Magic Mouse, or even a wireless mouse... Too many driver/compatibility/lag issues. Use a simple USB scroll-wheel mouse. I had one in my computer junk bin, but if not they're 15 bucks or so. Overall, my framerate sure looks like 60fps (no noticeable stuttering) and the automated graphics setup gets to stage 33. In other words, the low to medium graphics settings. Not great but perfectly usable, my only real complaint is some funny stuff going on with LODs when zoomed all the way out, who cares. Oh, and set your screen resolution to 1620x1080, otherwise you'll go blind from tiny text! Also your GPU will melt down, so stay around 720p equivalent. By the way, I did try at 1080p, 1920x1200, it ran fine but text was way too small, at least on my 15 inch laptop screen. YMMV.

Anyway, don't let the need for Boot camp keep you away from this great game!

I understand the bootcamp method of obtaining Windows. However, i am a bit confused as to how you obtained an external graphics card.
