[MAC] Steam - DLC problems

I have CK2 installed with the first six DLC (incl. Ruler Designer) installed and everything worked fine.
Yesterday I bought the last remaining DLC's (incl. Sword of Islam) during Steam's summer sale.

After that I could start as a Muslim ruler, but the Coat of Arms and the Mongol faces are gone.
the Ruler Designer still worked, I'm not sure about the music.

I removed the 'Paradox Interactive' folder in the '~/Documents' folder, and removed the folder 'Steam' in '~/Library/Application Support'
Restarted and logged back into Steam and downloaded the game again.

Now I the launcher shows all the nine DLC's but after I start the game no DLC is loaded.
I can't play with Muslims, no Ruler Designer and no Coat of Arms.

What to do next?

I had this problem on Windows when I bought the game during the Steam sale and restarting Steam did the trick for me.

Just booted my Mac, and started Steam. Sword of Islam and Ruler Designer are working now, but no Coat of Arms yet.
So I'm back at square one.

Any ideas?

This might not work but delete dynasty coa pack 1.ncf from steamapps folder and verify integrity of the game cache in Steam on the game. It should download the file again. Then check if the coat of arms are showing right.

I deleted the dynasty cos pack 1.ncf and verified the integrity. Steam couldn't detect any errors and didn't downloaded the file.

any new idea?

Yes, place the .ncf back but nothing happened

Odd Steam should have created that file again. Check if the DLC is listed on the DLC list under CKII on Steam.

Press right mouse button over the game on library and there is option view downloadable content.

I tried a fifth reinstall, no success.

In this reinstall, did you delete all local files and directories that Steam left behind? Their installation does leave stuff in pretty obscure places on the Mac - although Spotlight does find them all, I believe.

I set up a whole new user account to test if there was a problem with mine home folder, but the result are the same.

I haven't responded because I frankly can't think to anything else to try. This works fine for me and most people, I can't see what's different about your situation or environment, sorry. I was hoping others would chime in.

Like Andrew said I also can't think any other things to try. My best bet was deleting the ncf file. Still just to ask have you really checked in game that the coa are there and not accidentally checked on some dynasty that doesn't even really have pre-defined coa. Easiest way to check this is by checking the king of France or England if the have the historical COA as their dynasty coa. I only ask this to make sure there really is a problem as the random dynasty arms do change sometimes when new patch comes.

Absolute last-ditch suggestion: do you have a spare USB HDD around? You could reinstall a complete from-scratch Lion in about 15 minutes, put just Steam on, install Crusader Kings 2, and check if that works. If it does, there's something obscure going on with your main install. If it doesn't, you've got a solid case to go to Steam and ask them to look at your account -- maybe there's something wrong with the DLC permissions server-side.

@Wezqu, I checked the King of France and Denmark. As both have CoA from the DLC.

@richardgaywood, I will move files around to empty a USB HDD and give your idea a try.


Is this a Steam or Paradox issue?
