The thing is aswell. When the terrain_no fix worked, fair enough the land was black but the game run fine! Borders and everything was there. All I needed was some colour and the game is absolutely fine. I don't need the terrain view more than I need the political view.

So we'll just have to cross our fingers for 10.9 then? And what if 10.9 don't support newer versions of OpenGL?

It was stated several times on this forum by devs that EU4 would have the same system reqs as CK2. Of course you take for granted it won't matter if it's PC or mac. It was just a couple of weeks before the release that the VRAM req. simply doubled for mac.. Without a clear announcement.

I'm just lucky i never sold my old PC.. :p

OSX Mavericks will support OpenGL 4.1, according to Apple's Developer Preview from June. http://www.geeks3d.com/20130611/apple-adds-opengl-4-support-in-os-x-10-9-mavericks/

From my side I run the 1st version rMBP 15inch. Even on Ironman it has run quite nicely for me. Having said that its been playing up recently for unknown reasons. I'd load the game and it would be god awful slow when previously it was fine. A reset normally fixed such things.
Now it won't even load and i'm unsure if its 10.8.5 OSX just released that has done it or not. So i've deleted EU4 and am re-downloading. But its a shade buggy on a mac yes.

about to download Mac OSX 10.8.5 and see if that makes a difference. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to technology at the level those on here are discussing but I still hold a fools hope that 10.8.5 does something.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but the problem doesn't seem to be the computers, it is something with the game. I have bootcamp and the game runs fine on the window's partition, but is unplayable on the mac side.

I'm pretty convinced from the conversation in this thread that the superior PC performance is due to DirectX and the move to OpenGL 4 in OSX Mavericks will help. I'm also prepared to be wrong!

I did the Wineskin technique on my MacBook and it certainly ran better though I only had a chance to play for about fifteen minutes.

I don't think 10.8.5 will do anything unless I missed something in the notes. I'm going to try it out later tonight though. In the meantime, I'm just gonna have to wait until the end of Oct when 10.9 comes out. MORE WAITING. grar.
