Sorry for more “help me install” questions, but I’m a new mac person (using MacBook Pro) so I’m not great at troubleshooting anything on here yet. This is my first time installing this mod on this system. I bought the game through Amazon and am using it on steam.

I followed the step by step guide for mac users here -. My folders match up exactly as shown. Then it says…

“At this point your game should boot but quit out on the loading screens. Dumping the loading screens folder inside "gfx" fixes this issue and the game should boot.”

I tried putting the loadingscreens folder in both the paradox interactive->crusader kings II->gfx folder and the paradox interactive->crusader kings II->mod->game of thrones->gfx and both times I received the same error message I got when I was tried booting it up before moving this folder around.

After I select the mod and hit Start CKII I get the message…

“ck2 quit unexpectedly.

Click reopen to open the application again. Click report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple”

Then when I click open, it says…

“error.

The working directory doesn’t seem to be correct.”

Again, thanks to anyone who takes the time to point me in the right direction. Loved playing this game on my PC, just trying to get it going on my mac now. Thanks again.

This is a bug with CK2 at the moment, not the Game of Thrones mod, and it also affects most other mods (see my bug report here). Basically CK2 fails to create the mod specific user setting folders that some mods use, and then crashes because of that.

You will have to manually create the required folder in your ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/ folder.

The name of each folder is specified in the .mod file that comes with the mod you want to use. You will need to open the .mod file with TextEdit and look for it. Using the A Game of Thrones.mod as an example here:

Code:
name = "A Game of Thrones"
path = "mod/A Game of Thrones"
user_dir = "[COLOR="#FF8C00"]A Game of Thrones[/COLOR]"

-> The new folder needs to be named A Game of Thrones. Rinse and repeat for each different mod that you use.
