Mac - EU4 Random Freeze

I have played Russia for 200 years, no problem. But then the game began freezing - I mean complete and nasty freeze that requires rebooting the Mac by switching it off!
The freezing has then happened more and more. I am now in 1746, and it is virtually impossible to play one full year before hard rebooting! To the point that it becomes pointless continuing the game. How frustrating!

What exact Mac model, video card, and OS X version please?

Does this only happen in this one Russia game, or in others too ?

Were any mods involved?

What version and checksum show on the main game menu, when no mods are loaded?

I have not tried another game.

No mods.

OK, well that's almost the same as my Mac and I have no such problem. Not really sure what to suggest, perhaps put that game aside until the next patch, and start a fresh one.

I have finally managed to finish the game with Russia. I may have identified the issue: it relates to save files. When I erase all of them, except the last auto save one, it works smoothly...
