I picked up Crusader Kings 2 and a bunch of it's DLC over the weekend. However, I have yet to be able to play it. Immediately upon launching it from Steam it will crash.

I have an iMac that is about 6 months old. Please find attached a crash report (hardware specs are in it), however this might be the key part :

Application Specific Information:
objc[7775]: '/Applications/Steam.app/Contents/MacOS/osx32/gameoverlayrenderer.dylib' was not compiled with -fobjc-gc or -fobjc-gc-only, but the application requires GC
objc[7775]: *** GC capability of application and some libraries did not match

I tried downloading a recent version of the command line tools (no idea if that was even necessary) and a newer version of X-Quartz. No luck there. I also tried reinstalling the game, and verifying game cache in Steam.

Any help is appreciated.

Sorry, this thread has the same issue I have : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?735946-Mac-Launcher-Crash/page2

I should have looked closer. I did a Google search for this forum and nothing popped up more recent than 2012 (and nothing when I specified no older than a year), but I just noticed it in the tech support forum page. Maybe it can be merged?

For the record, as was suggested in that thread : going to game properties in Steam -> disabling Steam overlay fixed the launch problem.
