Mac and PC Multiplay issue

I am sure this has been posted to death but I didnt see one when i searched the recent posts. Forgive me if i overlooked one


But has anyone ever been able to play a multiplayer game with macs and pcs? I have been under the impression this never worked but I was hoping there was some news on it with the new DLC coming out next month. Or even better if it works now at 1.092 and I hadnt heard.

The issue the last time I tried with a friend who has a mac is the game would freeze when raised his levies.

At the moment it works at a fundamental level, yes. There have been problems on various versions, but it's not right to say its never worked.

Your problem does not sound like it's related to the MP being Mac/PC, he'd probably get the same issue vs another Mac. That said, I've not heard of that specifically as a problem; there are a couple of current crash bugs in 1.092, but not one on levy-raising per se.

I am currently playing oneline via PC and Hamachi with a friend (he hosts). We are able to play, but my game crashes on a regular basis; usually every half-hour or so, but today, five or six times in an hour, so we have quit for now.

We do not use the Republic retinue add-on, or whatever it is, and in fact, since the last patch, neither of us has ever been able to create a retinue at all (right now we are on the Alexiad scenario, and he is the Byzantines; when I played that solo, I was able to build 8 retinues -- 4,000 men -- fairly soon into the game. We are in 1162, and though he can put about 50,000 men in the field, he still cannot create a single retine. Since the Byzantines had the only professional army in Europe at the time, this is a bit frustrating).

Getting back to the crashes, even before the last patch, I had a constant issue wherein some -- but not all -- of my levies would refuse to move once raised; could not be given leaders, and could not be disbanded. In other words, although I could still see their icons on the map, they essentially would have fallen out of the game.

Sorry to mention three things in one post, but I don't think the issue is my machine or his, but either the game itself, or data being lost in the network. We have played many, many other games -- including high-end graphics games such as "Company of Heroes" and the recent Total War games -- and never had any such problems.

Are you using any mods? Many of them stopped working with the latest patch, specifically the armies stopped moving. To fix that you need to update the mods.

Are all these issues you mention only happening to either/both of you in MP, not SP? Your description doesn't make that clear.
I assumed you posted in this thread because you too have the PC/Mac mix and are also blaming that for your problem. But on re-reading I see no mention of a Mac, is that the case or not? If not can you please start your own fresh thread? It's confusing for everyone to be trying to deal with two unrelated issues in the one thread.
