No, during the time frame of the game Portugal was considered Spanish, it would've formed Spain if they were the dominant power on the peninsula.

Alright, for the Portuguese fanboys who reject Spain, I get it, you don't want to be associated with them. But if you're going to reject Spain, you can't claim Lusitania as a formable for all of Spain.

This is Lusitania, unless I have horrible eyesight, that's not all of Iberia. It's also true that Portugal was considered Spanish at one point, they were one of the Kingdoms of the Spains. So unless you want a formable that is basically take over Extremadura and Leon from Castile/Spain, Lusitania won't work.

Then, what would the alternative name for Portuguese-founded empire in the Iberian Peninsula be, if not Lusitania or Spain? The only one I can think of is Iberia, but the fanbase has argued time and time again that the inclusion of an formable Iberia tag would be ahistorical for the timeperiod.

Doesn't make sense in that Gallaecia is simply galicia releasable slightly above portugal which is Lustinia, it may be etymologically related but both of these provinces's stakes are kind of redundant. Whatever people that lived in these places lost their claims when the muslims took hold of Iberia, and in turn the reconquista by the Spanish makes it Spanish dejure and assimilation into the population.

Id rather prefer the Basque people to recieve critical treatment, since they pre-date the regional conflicts dating back to roman times as a ethnic minority in the region and under some political pressure for a while pressed in the middle of everything Vasconia became Navarre in a small central focal area. Attached to the mission tree could be a Lombardia like idea to make Vasconia (the ethnic state predecessor as of frankish times of the Pyranees) as a spanish competitive nation (added to the criteria to not exist or married into for the formation of Spain) by owning some territories in France and Aragon.

I have seen more complicated ones, but the most plainform interation fo the `vasconian` flag

The game allready calls it the lusitanian empire, if portugal owns the entire iberia peninsula. I am merely suggesting to use newly added mechanics to actually display that name on the map and in diplomatic relations.

Thank you for the geography lesson.

Now for you:

Scholar Antonio de Nebrija (Castilian): "The Lusitanian standard is captured, which was a valuable insignia, yet by the negligence of Pedro Velasco and Pedro Vaca, to whom it was entrusted, as [already] mentioned, it is subsequently taken up by the enemy"

Context Battle of Toro 15th century.

Portuguese were referred as Lusitanians by their Castillian counterparts.
It's not unfeasible to call it Lusitania.
Also the name of the mission is Lusitanian Empire.

Quoting myself. Kinky.

Edit: Antonio de Nebrija (1444 – 5 July 1522) was the most influential Spanish humanist of his era.

Also it's a game. There is a lot of alt history already and yet this is where people draw the line oddly enough.

Well gonna play with germany in the 16th century and go for an african scramble, or better let me form the Kingdom of God like the good old days...

I think this sort of hypotetical Portuguese/Lusitanian "empire" comprising the whole Iberian Peninsula shouldn't be named after his core or original land. Just call it "Hispania" or some other variation. It's like Granada "re-forming" Al-Andalus but naming it "Granadan Califate/Sultanate/Empire", Aragon unifying the peninsula and naming it "Aragonese Empire", Castile doing the same and naming it "Castilian Empire", Navarra being "Navarrese Empire", etc.

It's just weird.

Kingdom of God is hypothetical.
As well as a few nations in the game.
But calling it Spain, and then featuring the Spanish flag where the Portuguese symbols dont even feature, its absurd.

New Tag, New ideas, new flag.
