It is not absurd that it is regulated, it is absurd that murdering children is OK and getting married at 12 is hell. I denounce that it is absurd to pant one thing as acceptable and the other as horrible.

From a gameplay perspective the AI tends to marry off children as soon as they reach marrying age (curently 16). That beign said, while it would be historically correct to have marriage at 12 i still don't support this as it would feel unconfortable for me to have to see married children with children all over the map. I could see the number of characters beign born will be greater as well so that could be a problem too i imagine.

I'm not saying it for you but I was surprised to read other people who have fun with the murder of heirs in crusader kings 2 and who understand that it is something part of a game that in reality is intolerable but they are scandalized because a 13-year-old princess gets married in a video game . I do not get it. Also, I suppose that if those laws did not prevent murders in a game, they would not prevent 12-year marriages from existing. That's my point, I don't want to get into more controversy

I'm not saying it for you but I was surprised to read other people who have fun with the murder of heirs in crusader kings 2 and who understand that it is something part of a game that in reality is intolerable but they are scandalized because a 13-year-old princess gets married in a video game . I do not get it. Also, I suppose that if those laws did not prevent murders in a game, they would not prevent 12-year marriages from existing. Haha internet controversy reee. I think people are getting a little dramatic and heated here. You dont whig out when reading a historical novel with a married 14 year old so why get your panties in a twist in a game setting thats an abstract map. You know YOUR not a pedo when your playing it so why would you get weirded out at 14 year olds having kids in the setting. Does it freak you out when you consider the past and how alien and different it was and against your modern sensibilities and morals. If I were you lot I wouldent think about Classical Athens or Sparta too much

Aaah, either way, it's a bit of a moot point, unneeding of controversy. I think I, like most people with a smattering of training in history/archaeology/general history hobbies probably noticed the first time we played Crusader Kings huh....thats slightly innacurate, you dont become an adult till your 16 *shrug* ah well, moving on. Paradox probably COULD have had the marriageable age be 14 and have 'become an adult' variable between 14-16 back in the early 2000s and noone would care now, but retroactively changing it in the modern enviroment would just bring needless drama.

As I understand even in cases of marriage at a very early age, such marriages wouldn't be consummated immediately, for obvious reasons, which is what would happen in game. The age when nobles got married varied a lot between cultures and religions and time periods, if you want to have a standard minimum age it's probably best it being 16 like it is now.
