Edit: After this first post and looking at some of the other city journals on this forums, I decided to try and follow their lead formatting wise and make it more of a proper City Journal starting with my first update down below. I hope everyone likes the new format!

Check it out :)

Nice! Cant wait to see more.

Any chance this map is on the workshop?

The map is OWL's Colossal Hillside. Since I posted this I've done some really cool things including a stacked highway with some cool interchanges, started a large area with canals and
a Riverwalk similiar to the one in San Antonio, Texas, expanded my train system, and added a nice office district. I'll post pics of that up here later tonight! Currently trying to debug an error I got last time I tried to save.

Ok, so trying to make this a little more like the proper City Journals I've seen on here. Lets go over what I've added since my last post:

  • The highway coming from around the stadium used to just go over the river and dead end, with no connection to the south bank of the river. This has been rectified! I knew that I was going to put in a large, high-density area where you see the canals in the screenshot, and that I wanted to have exits off this highway to the north and south riverbanks. However, this bridge was also going to serve as one of the major connections between the future communities further to the North and the beachfront downtown. I decided to separate the two uses (canal area/riverbanks access and through traffic to beachfront) by making the highway stacked. The lower portion is the canal area/riverbank access, and the upper portion is for through traffic. This lead to two new large interchanges.

  • The first of the new interchanges is on the south bank. This interchange terminates the lower part of the stacked highway coming from the north, so it serves as an exchange between the upper and lower highways. It also serves as an on/off point for the south bank and the new, small, pretty office district in the screenshot. It also has a nice entry ramp which is the elevated one that goes off screen which comes from the casino strip.

  • The second interchange is to the north of the river and is a sort of Y-interchange. The upper and lower highways branch off, with the upper portion heading more east to connect to the canals area and the lower portion heading off to the north. The sole purpose of the interchange is to allow exchange between the upper and lower highways.

  • And I got started on the canals district with a riverwalk! I am trying to do it a bit like the riverwalk in San Antonio,Texas.
  • You can see in some of the screenshots I have random props and things placed up above the riverwalk lol. I sometimes places things I think I might want to use so I can look at them in game and it helps me get a better mental image of how they might look other places. It also is nice when I get stuck I can go "browse" them for some inspiration! Works a lot better for me than just looking at thumbnails in the menus!

That's it for this update! Hope you enjoyed it!
