There are now at least four Empire level titles throughout Europe after 250 years of play. There's the Empire o Al-Andalus, the Norse Empire (me), the French Empire, the British Empire and the Holy Roman Empire. I was planning on converting this to EUIV so it is a little annoying, and it just seems illogical. The French and British Empires both have the King of England or the King of France under them, and they have most of the Empire's land, so it doesn't make sense that they listen to the Emperor. They don't need him, they could declare their independence easily. I thought maybe the situation would work itself out after a few generations but they seem to be staying together. Is this normal? Is there any way to avoid this?

Also, almost every single Nomad in the game has settled, there is one county left that is Nomadic. Is this because I turned the independence declaration on death on or is it because the rate of settling is too high? The Mongols have not invaded yet for some reason and it's a little disappointing to see the entirety of the steppes no longer Nomadic.

Ehm, can you explain this part?

Sorry, French Empire is mostly just De Jure France and most of the holdings are either owned by or vassals of the king of France, but the king of France is under the emperor. If the king of France rebelled he could easily overthrow the emperor. They stay separate because they're both elective. It's just weird.

Emperor in Name only :) but yeah when the game converts, good luck to them; lets see how long these empires lasts with vassals larger than themselves.

But it would be nice if the forming an empire event which lets you pick the name (that's still how empire formation works, right?) gave you a choice of making the kingdom title into an empire (keeping the name the same, so (Sicilian) Kingdom of Naples -> Empire of Naple , rather than Neapolitan Empire - which would keep the kingdom title seperate. Also availabe, Sicilian Empire and De'Angovin [of the house De Anjou, like Carolingian for Carlings] Empire)

I've seen this too and it's spoiling the game at the moment. In my last game I saw The Franks, Francia, Holy Roman Empire, Carolingian Empire, Occitan Empire, Bulgarian Empire, Celtic Empire, Anjou, the kingdom of Bedford (in central France, randomly populated by english courtiers) all emerge before 1050. Never seen the map such a mess. Is this a patch problem or something?

This is now configurable as a game rule. You can set required kingdoms to 3.

Also, British and french empire always require 3. British requires control over england and scotland and either wales, ireland or brittany.
