Seeing how the last indication of any work was almost a year and a half ago, I think it's safe to assume that this project is no more.

Also I believe that the copyright worries may be fairly well-founded. The Tolkien estate really doesn't like people using the canon in any unauthorised manner, and I seem to remember a Morrowing LOTR mod having to be abandoned because of threats...

@ Klas_Knas, he used the provinces allready created, but he "draws" the rest of the map ( seas and stuff ) simply by making such provinces sea provinces...

Neat! How do you do that?

You can edit the terrain types in the province.csv file to change land provinces to sea and vice versa. Then edit any references to those provinces in the scenario_countries, scenario_titles and scenario_provinces files. You can make a playable modified map this way, but certain provinces seem to be problematic. For example I found if Byzantion was changed to a sea province I got a CTD every game.

I stopped working on the mod a little over a year ago. It was mainly due to lack of time, but also just because of the difficulty involved in making and testing a major mod for CK. When I left off most of the map, characters and titles were finished as well as some new traits, improvements and events. However even unmodified CK was very prone to crashing, and I was spending far more time trying to track down the cause of CTDs than actually adding to the mod. At some point the frustration level just took the fun out of working on it.

Oddly enough, I just recently reinstalled and began playing CK again after seeing the 1.05 patch was available. I've been enjoying the game again with far fewer crashes in the new version. I still have all the files from the first age of middlearth mod and unzipped them to look at again.

I don't know how active the CK players/modders are these days but if there is any interest I can find a place to host the files. If anyone is willing to try it out and do some testing, I would be willing to make additional fixes and additions to the mod.

Currently there is a recurring CTD early in the scenario, probably caused by an error with a title or province. (Which is even more frustrating since at once point I was running test games over 100 years without crashes). If the crashes could be cleared up, it would not take much additional work to clean it up and have a fully playable mod.

I'm willing to test. Modding, however, is something I'm very bad at. :(

I am willing to test it out. It sounds like a very iteresting mod.

Lately I did some testing of the mod and fixed several bugs that were causing crashes. I'll try to finish up the country and character files and post them for download sometime in the next week. Then based on the interest and feedback I can decide if it's worth continuing by adding more events, technologies, traits, etc.

I'll start a new thread when the files are ready since this one was started by someone else, and because it's not really a LoTR mod. Here's a pic of the scenario map and one of the maps it was based on.

I would like to mention just one thing....

Orodreth is not son of Finarfin but his grandson. Orodreth was son of Angrod. Also Gil-Galad and Finduilas are brother and sister and children of the same Orodreth.

Just thought I mention this. ;)

You're right, and I did change this after reading more about it since I first started this mod. Christopher Tolkien has said that he made a mistake in the Silmarillion, and the way you described is how his father intended it.

This way makes much more sense in terms of the order of succession and makes it easier for the CK scenario to follow the books. The line for the kings of the Noldor (with Salic Primogeniture law) now goes Fingolfin > Fingon > Turgon > Finrod > Angrod > Orodreth > Gil-Galad.

Indeed. It does not only makes percfect sense for the game but for whole understanding of the succession among Noldor. Before C.Tolkien revealed that "small" piece of information many people who were Tolkien fanatics discussed how is it posibble that the succession goes back from one line and also up.

Also the High Kingship of Noldor was more titular, something like 'King of Romans' or 'King of Rus'. All High Kings ruled something else as well:

Fingolfin - King of Hithlum and High King of Noldor
Fingon - King of Dor-Lomin and High King of Noldor(was a vassal of his father prior to his death)
Turgon - King of Gondolin and High King of Noldor(earlier ruled Nevrast but abandoned it for Gondolin)
Gil-Galad King of Lindon and High King of Noldor

The only exceptions are Finwe and Feanor due to the fact the title of the leader was not yet 'High Kingship'. Only after the Noldor divided(after the conflict between Feanor with his sons and Fingolfin and Finarfin with their sons) the title 'High King' is used to denote this fact. It's very much similar to Ireland when I think of it.

Anyway.... :p

Edit: Oh and can you send me the bigger map, I'd like to see it. Just send the link to PM if posibble, thanks. ;)
