Help! I have been waiting for some support since the end of July! I have updated the game to the latest version but my saved games are not compatible and the game crushes!

Sorry, but patches usually make old savegames unplayable.

You were also posting it in the wrong place. You'll need to register your game to have access to the tech support forum.
You posted a thread on 25 August and I replied to it within 3 hours. You never responded any further as to whether my suggestion worked or not.
In that thread you say you've lost your saved games, but here you are saying they crash your game. So it's quite unclear what your actual problem is. But yes, you will need to register your copy of Rome and post in Tech Support, with a clear description of your problem. We are willing and able to help you, but we can't see your system and rely on you to give us as much information as possible.

At last some life out there! I have tried to register my game but the serial number seems to be wrong, I was playing the game from June and after 6 weeks of play it started to crash I was told to install the last version which I did and this is when I lost my saved games I dont now if the game crashes have been resolved! I have been trying to get in touch with your support team but the way your set up is very tiresome confusing and fustrating I have I don't find this why of communicating very distant.
Now you've registered Rome successfully, I've moved you into Tech Support, which is where support occurs.
If I understand you right, you were able to play the game for a period (it's not clear to me if you mean 6 weeks real time or game time). You got help from someone (the Zendesk at Paradox?) who told you to "install the last version", which I guess means to apply the current patch, 2.32c? Is that right?
When you say you've "lost your saved games" do you mean you cannot see them in the Rome load menu? We can probably fix that, there's no reason why simply applying a patch (if that's what you did) would delete your saves; what may have happened is that the Windows Virtual Store function has hidden them from you - this can be the case if you use Vista or Windows 7 and have installed Rome in the system path, under c:\program files\ . Navigate in Windows Explorer to your Rome Savegames directory; if they are not there then click on the "Compatibility Files" button and you should see them. Wherever they are, at this point I suggest you copy them somewhere obvious, like your desktop, to make sure they are now safe.
Then I suggest a full clean reinstall outside the system path. Uninstall the game, and then manually delete the game directory - this is important. Reinstall Rome:Gold - choose a new directory like c:\games\rome instead of the suggested path. Download the 2.32c patch, and run it to install it; make 100% sure you point it to that same new directory above so that for instance the new rome.exe overwites the old one, the new romegame.exe overwrites the old one, and so on. Once done right-click on the game's desktop icon and set it to run as administrator, and to disable desktop composition. Run the game up, exit it, and run it up again and make sure the version is now 2.32c and the checksum is SWBL - you ought to see those on the main game menu, but if not you need to start to host an MP game and you'll see them there.
If all is well, copy your save games back into the c:\games\rome\svaegames\ folder and you will then be able to find them in the game.

I have the 2.32c version, i had been playing about 15-20hours a week for 6 weeks, when i run the game my saved games are on the right, when i click on one i get a blank map with no colours on the different regions, so i cant choose who to play, when i try and load another game it crashes, and an error comes up rome has stopped working! The game was crashing before i installed 2.32c but i could play and load and save games i don't feel that i could start another game if i cant progress, i have been waiting for help since the end of July, i am at present waiting for some help again from your support, I like your games but i don't have any confidence with the support, i have even upgraded my PC so i could play Victoria II.
Were these saved games started under the 2.32c patch? Ones from before that are not guaranteed to work any more.
What checksum do you get? It may be visible on the main game menu, but some people can only view it by starting an MP game as host. It should be SWBL, anything else means a bad installation.
That aside I'm truly not sure any more what your problem could be, we are just not seeing the problem you describe happening to anyone else.
