After putting 20+ hours in an Ironman game playing as the Duke of Toulouse, the weirdest thing just happened to my game. The strength of my Duchy was the Demesne on which it was based, stretching over 3 duchies and 7 counties. The majority of my vassals were of my own dynasty, so one could say that I was preparing a strong base for an independence war at some point towards my liege, the King of West-Francia (playing the Charlemagne start).
Now somehow, when my liege king died, I ended up inheriting one of his titles, the Kingdom of Saxony, whilst the King's heir inherited my entire demesne (without my character dying!). So now I'm stuck with a Kingdom based in Germany (whilst being French), with a demesne of just one county and a bunch of powerful vassals who hate me for being foreign... Needless to say I do not really appreciate this 'promotion' to King of Saxony. Moreover, I do not understand why this happened. Could this be a DLC hiccup (since I installed Reaper's Due halfway through the game)? Or is it that a Kingdom as primary title goes before a Duchy, thus losing your Duke-title when inheriting a Kingdom? Does anyone have any explanation on this?
