I am just thinking why Paradox is not using full potential of CK2.
For example:
-we had many ambitions in the game - now we have like 5-6?
-plots: basically only two which matters: kill and revoke
-assassins - we are not allowed to hire them (it was possible at the early phase of the game). Why not? It can give opportunity to many new events.

Am I the only person which thinks that Paradox is not using great potential of CK2?
Game mechanics give so many options but I fell that they are giving us only like 30% of it.
So many DLC and I fell that i am playing beta game.

Why Paradox can't take an example from many mods created by players like CK2+ or Game of Thrones?
I think that vanilla CK2 is very idle - but of course this is only my opinion.

What do you think guys?

I think duels should be better, something like those wargames in war focus, no more situations when you get killed by your courtier with -1 PCA. It would be good to add new plots too, like kidnapping.

In previous patches we had "have a soon ambition", "get married ambition" etc. - why they are taking those options from the game?

@Paradox - patches should be released to GIVE something to your players, not to TAKE it away.

Agreed - but I don't like taking so many things. As mentioned before now we have about 5-6 ambitions, 1-3 plots and about 8-10 decisions?
I thought CK2 supposed to be a simulator of medieval ruler but there are just few decisions you can make in the game.
So the only option is war right? But the war is quite boring and I don't think it's a main topic of this production.

Getting married ambition isn't really relevant for rulers, since that's the first thing they do anyway. It's just a way to get 50 prestige if you aren't already married.
The improve trait ambitions are replaced with the focusses, which are far more organic ways of doing so IMHO

That's fine with me. If you are playing as a poor vassal 50 prestige at the beginning is something.
They don't want to give 50 prestige? Fine - change it to 10.
But do not take some content of the game form players because I think that CK2 really isn't using 100% of mechanic - and that's why it's bad move.

To be clear - creating this post is not a wave of hate to the Paradox. I really love CK2, they also done great job with Stellaris, I just can't stand that they have such a great game but with such great lack of potential. As a customer who bought it (and you all know that with all DLCs it's not a cheap game) I am expecting something more.

If Paradox do not have ideas what the can add (however I don't think they don't) hire moders.
They have a ton of ideas which works great and they are adding a "soul" to this game.

@Paradox - patches should be released to GIVE something to your players, not to TAKE it away.

You might not be the only one who feels that way but you're silly for it. CK2 is leaps and bounds better than it's day one release, better than the first few patches, and will be getting better in important areas with the next one. I've harped on about it in other threads but the prosperity system is a great addition and, pending it working right, one of the better decisions they've made over the last few patches. Potential hasn't been "lost", untapped would be a better term to used, and occasionally misguided.

  • Have a son/daughter ambition was merged into a groom a heir, which is the same fertility bonus (25%) and gives you an extra set of events towards the end of the ambition that create more interesting interactions in the game (possible rivalries, friendships, some extra vassal opinion for heir, and extra prestige per month for the upcoming son/daughter).
  • Get married was removed because it was just a simple extra piety button click. There was nothing else attached to it. It *never* gave 50 prestige, it was always 10 piety.
  • Amass Wealth was removed in favor of Building a War Chest, which is arguably better for all but the poorest realms. 10% extra tax modifier for three years over one stewardship point. It also gives the player/AI more event options to amass that wealth, rather than sitting and waiting for gold to accumulate, and is balanced around title rank rather than a flat gold amount.
There are some mods out there that have great ambitions but I don't know if they are balanced properly. I haven't played CK+ in a few patches but I did like the extra options there. Granted, I did like how they did sacked holdings due to raiding as well...

Assassins were removed because it was a simple kill button that didn't give anything to the game and made it easier. In some of my later merchant republic games, I could feasibly spam it to clear out patrician house after patrician house, rather than go the long intrigue route which would have been more involved. If I remember right, it is getting put back for players that don't care about earning achievements. So you can play with your kill button then.

As for plots, the Intrigue focus really takes care of most of the cloak and dagger stuff you'd ever want. Should it be expanded? Yes, but I don't have any great ideas on how to and you don't seem to either.

I told that I miss that option but not the mechanic. We can have a plot to kill which is free (no cost in money) so why we can't have assassination - which can cost a lot of money but a chance of success is let say 20% - 30%.
I am not saying that all things which where in the game should be back and work the same way.
I just think that they should leave them but change the way they works.

I just think that they should leave them but change the way they works.

Wrong.

Plots cost time, attention, and bribe money. Occasionally wards and honorary title grants too. That is, if you want them to succeed. Unless you go intrigue and get lucky with an assassination option/capture chance.

The assassination button was just a cheap way to get rid of a character in the game without getting truly involved in the process.

The problem was that it was an instant kill button. At end game, when you were drowning in money, it doesn't matter how low the chance was, you just spam it until you succeed without even unpausing the game.

Yes, but it is still in the hands of developers. What if this button should be active once per 5 years?
I am not a dev but I am just thinking how they can give us more options in the game.

And that's exactly what they are. Some people didn't like the rebalancing, and thus they are now giving us the option to bring it back. Personally I like it, and won't be re activating it.

What do you mean by "and thus they are now giving us the option to bring it back"? Do you have any link to what they will give us? I have checked newest changelog for 2.6 but wasn't able to find any specific details regarding those options.

There's an "Assassin Button" in one of the Options listed in the OP. It's shown as "Plot Only" which would be the Default Option. But I'm betting the other option will be the one they took away.

So, yeah...

The so-called Bacon Button is back for those who want it...

So many DLC and I fell that i am playing beta game. What do you think guys?
You, friend, seem to not aprecciate the phenomenon that CK2 is. The project is in constant development, so yes, it does mean it is not "completed" but does it have to be? Just enjoy the process, do not let yourself to be consumed by the illusion of completion. When can a man enjoy his life more: on the brink of extinguish or when it can be experienced in its most dynamic moments?
