Just have someone ask directly at the stream. Seems more effective than our current guesstimate fest. o_O
Are you new around here? ;)

Theorycrafting and guesstimating from the flimsiest of hints is the national sport in these parts of the forums :)

Yeah about 30 seconds after I posted I realized I was tilting at windmills. Just too lazy to delete it.

I do think it serves as an answer why they won't talk about things before they are close to finishing though.

Have I missed a dev diary? Mitch mentioned in the stream that one was coming out on Monday but I don't see it anywhere. I guess it could be coming next Monday or maybe they've got caught up in something and will post it later in the week...

During last week’s livestream, it had indeed appeared that Mitch wanted the next Dev Diary released this past Monday. And that [EDIT: Andrew] would be the one penning that particular Dev Dairy.

I think we’ll be getting a Dev Diary soon, it’s release might even be a topic of discussion tomorrow night. I’ll add that question to my list I’ve been compiling for Twitch Chat. Given time constraints, not all questions get answered but hopefully we’ll hear more on the topic tomorrow.

OH MY!

... come on HBS, let’s see that Coolant Truck! : )

Eh, I'd rather they didn't.

Mainly because I'm still sore about the whole "Coolant Vent" thing.

The perfect opportunity to add a piece of legitimate equipment and they turn it into a "mechwarrior superpower".

. . . so I shudder to think of what the Coolant truck would wind up as. . .

Everyone wants more explody effects. :D

You can NEVER have too much, or too many, explody effects. :D

Well the next stream was done and they talked about the new weapon systems as well as the Warhammer and Marauder.

And good news for those that want a MAD-3D, the hard points between the MAD-3R and -3D are not different so you can make yourself a 3D with a quick refit.

Weapons:
LB-X AC's - lots of fun, does more stability damage, slightly lighter. Shots don't cluster like missiles.
UAC's - fire 2 shots at a time. Don't jam. Massive recoil penalty.
Infernos - Only SRM2 launchers. 8 shots. Can't change ammo type, you only have inferno missiles. 2x2 damage, 5 heat for 2 turns per missile hit.
NARC beacon - +25% damage for missiles that hit
Snub PPC - fires a cluster of PPC shots
TAG - +20% damage for direct fire weapons - energy and ballistic
COIL - light but a bulky weapon system, does more damage the more evasion pips you generate when moving.

We also got to the see the information on the Mortar. It's a slightly smaller area of effect than the thumper and has only one shot per battle. They modified it I think to not be an automatic head hit for either the mortar or thumper. But they do a lot of damage spread out over a mech.

Thumper - 2 shots per battle. 2 round cool down I think. Larger area of effect to Mortar.

Think that's mainly it.

But they also did a quick battle to show off some of the weapons.

Did the TAG stack with quirk damage bonuses? TAG on a Warhammer with +damage PPCs would effectively make the upgraded gauss rifles without ammo concerns.

Sorry, but I think that the TAG has a bonus of 10% and not 20%, just checked the stream at 01:13:00~ish and that is what it says on the description. Ryan didn't say the numbers, only that it was the counterpart for the NARC and so on. :)

Yes. As long as they are different effects, they will indeed stack. The example Ryan gave was that having two Marauders would not confer 2-Bonuses to Incoming Damage Reduction, but would only ensure continued coverage of a single bonus if one of the Marauders were taken out.

So a PPC Damage Bonus would stack with TAG Bonus, would stack with the Warhammer Bonus.

Hooboy, well that's different. PPC shotgun.
A PPC Shotgun that does 15-Damage for each of its 5 mini-PPC Blasts. So Dual Snubnose PPCs on a Warhammer would see that Max Damage of 75 per SnubPPC amped up by another 15-points, for a potential total of 180-Damage.

This kind of sets a new bar by which to judge COIL Weapons. COILs don’t seem all that overpowered to me now.

Now envisage Natasha with that Warhammer - in front of you...

Natasha's Warhammer isn't overly dangerous by itself.
If they use her supposed loadout its 2 ppc's, 4 Mguns an SRM and forget if she has med lasers. It's her as a pilot and the loyalty of her squad etc that makes it fataly dangerous.

From Sarna.net:

While there is much fan speculation that Natasha piloted 'Mechs with advanced Star League technology in her early career with Wolf's Dragoons, there are no canon references to support this. Her Marauder, captured by the Bounty Hunter in 3014, was upgraded by him following a Periphery mission in 3015 with equipment from a Star League cache uncovered during that mission.[14] Her iconic Warhammer is a stock WHM-6R, maintained in perfect condition.[15]

But they also did a quick battle to show off some of the weapons...

I'm now at "Full on Hype" levels for this expansion and the ideas it's giving me for mech customization

Quick thoughts

LBX - Stabilty vs cluster is interesting, I like the idea of using LBXs to knock around faster mechs stop evasion.
UACs - Curious as to how bad the recoil penalties will be; once you hit Gunnery 8 or so I find recoil penalties aren't an obstacle to continuous fire.
MAD-3R/3D - Having played mods with both models in, this is a choice I approve. The hardpoints are identical, so it just makes assembling things that much harder for nothing.
Infernos - Situational, but still vastly more useful than an standard SRM2 (Looking at you, Shadowhawk SRM2 and it's CT mounted dumpster of ammo you can never burn through before it cooks off...)
NARC / TAG - I could see this being a good reason to bring a dedicated fast light/medium as a spotter. An Archer or Catapult getting a 25% bump on an LRM swarm is hard to beat.
Snubnose PPC - Another change that's interesting and I really want to see in action.
COIL - I'm not much of a light mech fan, but it has potential. A light mech that could rush and punch above it's weight would be a big help on attack/defense missions.
Mortar/Thumper - Very situational again, but I like the idea of being able to lob a few rounds during attack/defense missions, or vaporizing a vehicle convoy in a single shot.

Yeah they didn't really talk about the Warhammer or Marauder in that stream.

The Warhammer's bonus is great. 20% bonus to energy damage is nice no matter what.

Yeah, 20% to a LL, basically puts it around PPC damage, so you could either roll around with souped up PPCs or use LL and get PPC damage, but the benefits of weight savings and heat from having LL.

Or split the weight difference and go with Snub PPCs! : )
