So after playing this fantastic game for a very unhealthy amount of time over the past month, I've hammered out every achievement except doing a WC, the Mosylon achievement, and the ones I need to roll back to 1.5 to get (and the destroy 10 new AI built wonders which I refuse to attempt). I'm planning on doing the world conquest as Rome, with my plan basically boiling down to "unify Italy and blob all over the tribals, Greece, and Anatolia as fast as I can and then use Imperial Challenge to eat Carthage+Egypt+Seleukids+Maurya". All political influence will go to fabricating claims that hopefully drag in defensive leagues, with militant epicureanism and major syncretism hopefully keeping me from imploding from permanent 100+ AE. My biggest problem is that my microing ability is bad, which is why I've never managed a WC in a paradox game despite playing since EU3 circa 2010.

Any and all advice is appreciated, thanks.

As an aside, for the Mosylon achievement I assume the best plan is to unify Punt and eat Kush as fast as possible, and then pretend I'm playing Kush and eat Egypt->Carthage->Seleukids->Maurya. Punt is just so unbelievably worthless as a region in this game and I don't want to waste 200 influence escaping arabic pagan religion.

You seem to have a good idea how to play it out. I've only done one wc (as the selucids) and at the end i even had 2/3s of my armies on automated and just directed a few armies to siege and assault forts maunally. You are right that your Pi should go Into claims mostly. When you get large enough try and fight wars in multiple wars at once, no need to have your entire army to invade kush for example as by the time you get there a third or so should do. The last 70 years or so on my wc 550 to 620 when i was done i were in atleast 1 war basically all the time only major exception would be that i had to chill for Pi to move my capital to get in range to fabricate on the brittish isles and Mallorca. Kinda pause heavy for me to micro assaulting forts on 3 fronts at once but it's not hard when you get at that point and just be patient and listen to music or a podcast in the background to not get bored.

Thanks for the response. Did you use the capital region only legion law or legions from all regions? Obviously marshalling your levies across huge parts of the world is a drag but since war exhaustion will probably be capped at 30 the whole time anyway I guess there's no downside to leaving levies raised at all times.

Well that was surprisingly straightforward. The dreaded imperial challenge micro wasn't even that bad since once you beat their armies a few times you could turn on AI control for most of the army and they'd figure it out, with a few manual stacks to control. Militant Epicureanism+Major Syncretism is a hell of a drug, I only faced one province revolt the entire game. I would absolutely never use them outside of a WC however, since my favorite part of this game is painting the map with my religion+primary culture and those two techs pretty much prevent you from ever converting anything significant and omens are cool.

Diplo range+control range+trade range is still the worst mechanic in the game by far. Without access to border forts I would have been tearing my hair out to reach Mosylon and colonize Orkney (for the great wonder achievement).

There are some tech that increase diplo and control range. Also some wonders can be built that do it also.

All techs and the wonder combined give +115% diplo range. This sounds good in theory but techs are too limited to waste on the very underwhelming right side oratory tree, and if it still isn't enough to let you DOW Britain with your capital in, e.g., Pataliputra it's ultimately pointless since you'd still end up moving your capital closer. If someone can confirm that it does give that much range though I would certainly view those techs in a different light, though.

Whatever you do, don't do wars when you have a military level 1 as your leader.

I did that last night when I invaded to Rome's north. Had massive levy numbers. 26k Latium, 12k Magna G.

Got roflestomped hard.

Note to self: Pay attention to details.

If you are using the Capital Levy pay attention to the Consul's Military Stat. If you have Legions use them to fight the battles and use the Capital levy do the Siege Work for the money.....until money becomes a non-issue.

Also plan on being at war for most of the game and after 600 AUC. plan on fighting multiple wars at the same time.

If you can become an Empire before going on the multiple war spree, but if you don't it isn't too hard to keep the game going as a Republic.
