I would like to put together a new multiplayer mod that has both a sense of realism and also maintain a level of Balance.

I am looking for a group of people who are willing to help Mod, write events, and give general rules and gameplay experiance so we can figure out a way to make multiplayer less rule restrictive.

PM me if you are interested in getting involved.

Cool. It's a good idea. This is more or less the premise of the EIR mod. I'd be interested to see more of your ideas, as it develops. You are of course welcome to take anything you like from that, and in fact I would have some specific recomendations of things that have played well so far.

In particular, I would recommend the "Belligerent Italy" event train for the occassion where Italy declares war on Yugoslavia, when it is not in Axis, and the whole "Reactive USSR moves the Industry to the Interior" events train. Simple systems, easily applied to any DD based version of HOI.

I may be willing to help with researching history as I have access to many volumes on WW2 History. :)

ah well so far we have been researching economic statistics and we currently could use information on formation size and makeup for the major nations

we plan to customize divisions based on there historical makeup, eg: Germany will have 17,000 men divisions with high firepower and defensive capibility, while a German Panzer IV division will be statistically better then an american Armor IV (PzkpfwIV vs Sherman)

Well, if you are doing Armageddon, you should probably start by installing Gormodocs CDCP Mod that corrects a lot of the minor errors in the original game. Its not so much a mod but just a collection of corrections to basic files, such as AI build values. It also has some basic work-around fixes for things such as the "Mission Efficiency" bugs for air combat.

You probably are aware of TRP, which is basicly unplayable in MP because of the huge number of events, but, that said, Lothos has also done some things along the lines of what you are describing, so perhaps there are some ideas there you could use.

On that note, I do recall reading that the standard Russian Infantry division was made up of 14,000 men. I will see if I can dig anything else out for you in the days to come.

Who is working on this ?

Can you post here changes made or proposed ?

I propose to have something like a saved game mod, not changing the main game the way other mods do. Except a few things like minor corrections of certain files, such as the db/misc.txt.

Things that are essential are :

1. Starting date for scenario.
2. Current base ICs for each country.
3. Current tech researched for each country.
4. Current divisions deployed.
5. Divisions in production queue.
6. Current domestic policy bars for each country.

Additional changes can be :

1. Changes in the db/misc.txt file.
2. New leader/minister skills and traits.
3. New stats for divisions.

von manstein11, I recommend one of us looking up some of the events that ave been incorporated into the mod 34 and Total Realism Mod, I have them both and they have other very important events in them.

As for everything else, I suggest you post some of the questions about the historical facts of goverment&economy and stuff, so that all who read will know exactly what to go dig up, you know?

so far the problem on Historical Economy is USA is more powerfull then all axis nations combined, so im thinking of locking IC until wartime and preventing them from getting thigns like Manpower before war to prevent large armies at the start, Same as USSR, locking Manpower until wartime

USSR's manpower must not be locked till wartime. Perhaps till Danzig event.

thats doable, I just dont want Soviets to unleash uber 1,000 divisions on Axis

the Soviet divisions will be much less combat effective then we are all used to in Vanilla

I agree with limiting the USA's capability to produce troops early on, but limiting their IC too much may also cripple their ability to amass stockpiles of resources, namely supplies and money, especially when they are trying to build more factories. So be carefull not too take too much from them. I feel that USA should not be a serious threat to Germany until late 42, early 43.
Also keep in mind that USA was coming out of the great depression of the 1930's.
As for USSR, Danzig event should do fine, but keep in mind that most are building factories until about that time anyway.

well the current Idea on the table is to give the Historic IC sizes to the nations and make producing new IC much more manpower expensive and time consuming making it less practical

and for the record the IC sizes for starting the 38 campaign are as follows
(all Base IC)

Japan 93
Germany 206
Italy 80

France 102
UK 156
USSR 198
USA 440

All allied nations would suffer more Peacetime IC penalties then in Vanilla

and Naitions would get more Events to simulate the industrialization for example, Germany aquiring Polish, French, ect nations industries with slightly limited capacity, and the USA ending the depression.

but before anyone complains about the "unfair IC" the axis will get much more powerfull military capibility forcing them to win games before 1942, otherwise the allied IC will be able to outproduce axis with astonishing speed
(Historically did 4.5 : 1)

lol no not at all, its just when people see the allies with so much IC it naturally leads to being unfair
