Ok, that's in Hungarian.

But the region is Slovak. And Slovak name for the city was Pozon. And this is much older name than the Hungarian one (Pozon was established by the rulers of Great Moravia).
As far as I know, the official name was Pressburg, because much of the city's patriciate was German.

The name was changed into Bratislava after Czechoslovakia gained its independence.

European lakes

@ mapmaker Krantz:
According only about extension, I considered 7 lakes for Europe:
Ladol, Onez, Vänern, Peipsi, Suomi, Vättern, Ilmen
they are their provs names too (text on map).
Suomi stands for Saimaa, Paijanne and Pielinen (even if not merged).
Lakes Leman (to Rhone) and Constance (to Rhein) are merged with their rivers without being a prov.
Lake Malären is merged with Baltic Sea as a fjord ... without being a prov.
Every other lake can't appear on map.

first: Czechoslovakia was an artifical nation without real connection between slovak and czech parts of it

second: I posted here already that yes, the province culture can be slovak, even the city name can be whatever you think(even if you can't see that slovak Pozon is from hungarian Pozsony), BUT as the hungarian name was Pozsony for the country and also the city itself, atleast the provincename should be Hungarian, no?

man, how I hate such discussions :rolleyes:

Apart from the fact that their language and material culture are basically the same.

(even if you can't see that slovak Pozon is from hungarian Pozsony), BUT as the hungarian name was Pozsony for the country and also the city itself,

I cant' see it because you are wrong. The city was founded by Great Moravians (by Mojmir I as far as I remember) as Pozon. The Hungarians came later and borrowed that Slovak name.

atleast the provincename should be Hungarian

Elio Vasa wrote at the beginning of the thread that his intention is to make names in local languages. Guess, which language is local there.

Sry much, but to limit the number of provs I had to consider lakes with an extension at least 1500kmq in Europe for now; it isn't sure for the final version of the map.
About the names of provs I inserted Alfold, Siebenburgen, Oltenia, Muntenia, Krpaty just to avoid name of city as name of provs (only Pozsony stay). Try considering it for next posts.
I gave till now 11 provs to Hungary in 1419 (hard to insert new ones):
Vas, Dunantul, Alfold, Banat, Krpaty, Pozsony, Magyar, Maros, Bukovina, Slovakia, Ruthenia not considering a free Croatia
Their data always can be changed ...

How about the name "Lake".

Is anything else needed?

...and the fact that if you can 'see' the lake, you can see every lake in the world (including all those lakes in Terra Incognita).

Not a particularily good idea. Especially if you are just going to call it 'Lake' (may as well not bother putting in the lakes at all then) ;)

No you will not. You should have a one lake for every IDgrid region

Great work!
About map of Russia: its very difficult to give some advice about map without rivers (I cant "to match" real cities with game provinces). But...

Rjazan is SE from Moscow, not E.
Nizhgorod - its Nizhnij Novgorod, Novgorod - its Velikij Novgorod.
Nizhnij Novgorod is E from Moscow, and Vladimir is placed between that cities (Vladimir - is very important town in XV - XVII, official title of Muscovy rulers is "Great Duke of Vladimir and Moscow". Yes, Moscow is 2nd, and Vladimir is 1st).
Bolgaria - does not exists in that time, it has been destroyed by mongols in XIII.
Ufa - may be, Kazan?
Yaroslavl is NE from Moscow.

May be its better to move Moscow to Suzdal. If you do it, then:

Yaroslavl -> Tver
Tver -> Smolensk (It also very important city, in historical time Smolensk was a target of many wars betwen Muscovy/Russia and Litva/Polska)
Moskva -> Bryansk
Nizhgorod -> Vladimir
Mordovia -> Nizhnij Novgorod
Ufa -> 2 provs, Mordva (west part) and Kazan (east part)
Galich -> Yaroslavl
Bolgaria -> Kostroma

Also, you may see here: http://europa2.ru/EEP/viewtopic.php?p=10917#10917

This is a beta-version of map of east Europe from Russian EEP team (based on Casperus map).

Don't look at other EU maps ... but historical maps:
better, I hope ya know that we before that dualism-map of cultures were a bit more in %-s :)
also: never name anything in Hungary Magyar couse thats like naming a province in England English

And some repairs:

Banát
Dunántúl

do you really have only 10 provs for Hungary?
even with 13 it would be better, perfect with 22 :(
