More importantly than long hair for barbarians... having bare faced Hellenistic rulers is pretty intolerable. Hannibal without a beard? Unheard of.

Carthage definitely needs to have Eastern-type faces, they were descendants of Phoenicians, i.e. Semites. They shouldn't look like Romans.

I have allways seen Carthage as the last stand of the Phoenicians, and would very much want them to look Phoenician.

from what I've seen in the AARs there Carthaginians are 'western' in their appearance, but there may be some minor characters who look eastern (crossing my fingers!!!!) :D

The Carthaginians were Semites and would have looked like modern day Jews - indistinguishable from Greeks - although a trademark was dark hair and eyes. The Carthaginians were a Hellenistic kingdom and their dress and appearance would have also been similar to the Greeks. No people during this time besides the Romans shaved their faces, Roman emperors began to wear beards and press beards on the coinage by the time of Trajan in hopes of bringing Rome closer in cultural identity to the Hellenistic peoples - because they believed that shaving the face was a sign of weakness and femininity.

Having shaved Hellenes is as big as a historical inaccuracy as having the Carthaginians depicted as being Asian with rice farmer hats - the beard was the most important cosmetic aspect of the Hellenistic man.

Amen brother! I'm sure Leonidas would be disappointed with the current "Hellenic" non-bearded faces. :)
