Lonely courtier with a lot of gold I'd like to ummm... "acquire"

Rule changes are hard to keep up with so I figured I should ask. There is a 31-year old Courtier who has 650 gold, and I could really use that. I originally brought her father over to be my Marshall. He married and only had one child so that's how she got her money. I never had her married and she never had an affair so she's got no children to pass the gold down to.

Did it used to be banishing someone have you all their gold, or part of it? Regardless, what's the best way to get all that gold for my own coffers? Does that money disappear or does it go to me when she dies?

Well, arresting and banishing her will get you the money, yes. It will also get you a heap of opinion penalties from your vassals for being a tyrant.

So plot to have her murdered, but only if mom and pop are dead, too.

I think when he dies, gold goes to whoevers court she is. With single males it is of course easy to give him barony and murder.

Intrigue focus, spy on. Either have her arrested or the event that put directly into jail. Then you can banish without tyranny.

If an adventurer attacks you he will lose all of his gold before you banish him unless he is originally from your court (unlikely).

If she has no family at all, murder her, as you're their liege, you'll get everything.

But she must be the only person in her dynasty, and have no children.

Excommunication comes with free imprisonment if you can get them excommunicated.

From the point of when I first asked this question to follow-up... this lady had a kid! But here's what's weird. She's still not married, has no lover, yet ended up with a child. I click on the child and THERE'S NO FATHER, just the mother. The year is 900 AD now, and my court is overflowing with people already. So did this lady have a virgin birth or something?

Call this person and introduce yourself as a Nigerian prince. Concoct a story about this person being the last member of the Royal Family of Dahomey and say that they have an inheritance waiting to be deposited into their account. Afterwards, claim that for this person to receive this inheritance - they must offer up their name, address, date of birth and bank account details for the monies to be wired directly into their account. You should finally then be able to access this person's bank and transfer all their money directly into your account. Happy hunting!

You get the gold only if the target is unlanded. Landed targets only abdicate.
