Knights still own the rhodes but this event still fires. i dont get why. (Btw they were my vassal and i owned malta)

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
The Knights (and all the other Crusader states like Athens and Epirus) have a mission that fires this event when they ally the owner of Malta.
And as far as I can tell they're your ally, not your vassal when the event fired.

Yeah my bad. They were my ally at that point. But i think the event is kind of lame. It would be better if it only fired when those states lose their original provinces. Anyways thank you for informing me

Other than Missions there is another set of requirements. Long story short - being a Catholic country owning Malta, while Rhodes is owned by a Muslim country. You can check the details on wiki: The Knights of St. John of Jerusalem
