I have been playing Cities: Skylines on my desktop PC, and just recently installed the program on my laptop as well. When I log in through my laptop, my "desktop" city is not available for playing. Am I doing something wrong? Can't I access my city via my login ID on any computer?

If you were to use a personal VPN, like Hermachi you would be about to set the mydocuments folder as the desktop folder for all your devices
It does mean saving over network every auto save and leaving your desktop on
im not sure if windows 10 will complain at such things, Win7 did it happily (on most games, without to much hacking it)
I think the dude above has the much more simple solution,
Im just a dinosaur and we didnt have things like cloud saving in my day unless we worked for it

You need to copy over the saves folder, or the files in your saves to your laptop in order to access the files locally. There's no way to do that remotely because Cities Skylines is setup to look explicitly at the local folder and not a path.
The alternative, which I have done myself is to use remote desktop and play on your desktop from your laptop.

Like already said, you can save your city to the Steam cloud during the save game process by just clicking the checkbox, then it can be used anywhere that has internet access.

Thanks to everyone who replied. The photo was especially helpful, because I could not find out how to access the STEAM cloud. I will try that now.
Just remember to still save locally. Cloud saves are reliant on the internet, so if you have poor internet and especially if on wifi that is crowded, your saved game can be corrupted and you could lose it. Plus it makes a great backup.
