The new canals are awesome, don't get me wrong, but trying to build them on uneven ground then to result in the canal insisting on following ground elevation as if it was a road. This...is less than effective and tend to result in floods - loads and loads of flood.

You can get around this somewhat by flattening multiple sections of the canal, but this prevents the multiple canal sections from communicating, and water from flowing from one section into the next, so it's hardly ideal.

I'd like to see locks implemented in some form or another. Even if th ey're not actually functional (eg, don't allow non-existing ships to go from one section of the canal to the next), they should be able to connect (for the purpose of flowing water) two canal sections at different elevation without floods happening.

Unless it's possible to do it in the game and I just haven't figured out how?
