So, we already have strategic bonuses for gaining a significant market share in a given trade good, as well as manufactories specific to trade goods, what I would like to see is trade goods giving bonuses specifically to the province they are produced in. Goods that typically trade at lower prices could be given stronger bonuses to compensate.

A few ideas for bonuses:

Grain: +2 (friendly) supply limit
Wine: -1 local unrest
Wool and Cloth: -10% local infantry recruitment cost
Fish: +5% local manpower
Fur: -1% friendly attrition
Salt: -10% local cavalry recruitment cost
Naval Supplies: -5% local shipbuilding cost
Copper: -10% local artillery recruitment cost
Gold: n/a
Iron: -5% local development cost
Slaves and Tropical Wood: -20% local building cost
Ivory and Chinaware: +5% local trade power
Tea and Coffee: +5% local production

So every province gets an added bonus from having a certain trade good? That would be very interesting, although it would definitely change things up when slavery is abolished.

More or less. I thought about having some give minor country wide bonuses, but I think they would stack too high for large countries.

It might also be worth having more overlap among trade goods that only occur in certain regions, so that most or all bonuses are available in all areas of the world (outside of Europe, I suppose).

I started running out of ideas once I got to the more exotic goods.

Gold: +25 local settler increase (per Danfish77's suggestion, loved this idea)
Spices and Tobacco: +10% local spy defense
Cotton: same as Wool and Cloth
Sugar: same as Wine (because Rum)
Dyes: -5% local regiment recruitment time
Cocoa and Silk: same as Ivory and Chinaware
