This is a lobby to persuade Johan into changing the rapid WE increase and AI cheat to apply on VHARD only.

Am I the only one tired of not being able to be at war for very long anymore? With the implemention of WE rising when War taxes are collected and troops are hired, I really don't think it's fair to make it rise automatically as well - and certainly not that rapidly! And now that colonies changes culture (which, btw, kinda makes a historical Canada impossible...), why should anyone bother concquering non-core privinces in non-colonial areas? They are nothing but trouble as it is now - even with the same culture, since WE always increases twice as fast as in core provs...

And about the maintenance cheat: yes, it certainly made it impossible for players to have huge standing armies with 1 province minors - but as long as AI is able to do it, what good is it? It still doesn't prevent minors from expanding crazy and unrealistic, and - as pointed out in another thread by MKJ - it partly prevents nations such as OE from expanding historically. Besides, I don't like the fact that AI Lombardia can field a larger army than me as Venice! I know that a lot of people wanted the game harder, but this is plain crazy... so why not just implement it on VHARD? Then we can all enjoy the game the way we prefer...

If you agree with me, please post - maybe Johan would consider it if enough people are craving for it...;)

Maybe only on hard and vhard in that case, as there are people who want a hard game but no BBwars.
Or, since this is (supposed to be) the way to go, have them in at normal as well, but remove them at easy and veasy, for those who want an easy game, or those learning the ropes.

I don't really prefer to play a game where the AI goes bankrupt every 3rd year. It will take a long time to improve that part.

And the cheats are removed at very easy.

Personally I like WE where it is.

One change I would like to see is for WE to decrease trade incomes. The way it is a company that gets most of it's income from trade has a significant income advantage in war over a country that gets most of it's income from tax/production.

I wasn't sure that you would see that other thread, so I made this one as well...

I agree that the bankrupt thing would be a problem since standing armies in most scenarios would be too high to support. But how about letting the player maintenance cheat as well on the lower difficult levels?

Nationalism should last longer. WE should only be doubled in provinces with nationalism.

I have made this suggestions about getting rid of double WE in non-cores so often I can now phrase it very concisely. In the future I expect to will be able to express it in a single symbol.

Ahh, good point.
How does that work exactly? If all ports in the home country are blockaded, will all overseas trade be stopped?

A good point is made....

Hive and I argue alot about EU2 strategy and concepts. There's my anti-Hive introduction so you know I'm not blowing sunshine up his a** (that was asp,you profanely minded ones---Hive likes snakes:D )......Digression begins....

WE: the dreaded War Exhaustion. It has to be factored in, but perhaps the pendelum has swung to far in the direction it has.. (I assume Johan swung in that way...with respects...so as to make home life realistic in our Eu2 worlds) and needs to be tweaked back some.
Don't get me wrong folks, I LIKE the concept of WE. We play as warriors and a few of us actually are (I'm speaking to anyone who has,is or will wear a uniform in a "forward" area) and sometimes we forget about Mom and Pa and Sis who are living next to the Tax Collector in the little graphic map we see at times on our Eu2 screens.
You see, they hate war tax, it really p's them off. They just paid census tax, they pay monthly fees to the crown, Silvio the Swordsman, their Son, from Sicily was just Slain in ....in... Spain! So now war is getting closer to home. Those troops we so gleefully click on and raise come from somewhere....the streets in and around the TC's mansion. They walk by it and look into the fancy french windows and see the slovenly official eat braised lamb as they trot off to be conscripted....and die....
This p's Ma and Pa citizen off. So do continual war taxes, so do LOOTING etc etc.

All this said in Johan's defence...Perhaps we can implement the war exhuastion after 2 or 3(4 or 5?) SUCCESSIVE tax raises due to war. Or maybe if the country suffers defeats(battles) many times in a row. Many nations glided through wars as their armies were laying waste enemies and WE was low to none (Napoleonic France, Spain under Isabelle etc).
My point is....implement the WE yes....but kick it in a bit more gradually.......more WE in a nation that loses battle after battle has some appeal as well, but respectfully, it should be lessened just a bit IMHO.

Danke,
CS;)

ps Hive plays a tough Venice (dont let him pick it)

I don't think making them less expensive to use is good, but maybe increase their usefullness... Make it increase WE if you have X amount of pirate ships along your coast. Would make you wanna kill em, kill em all :) And you could figure people would get tired of a war especially if they were fishermen getting killed by pirates all day long.

I don't think War Exhaustion should be tied to winning or losing battles. It's just not true that Napoleonic France didn't suffer war exhaustion, although I suppose you can make the case that it ought to be tied to troops raised. But in general the nation that wins battle after battle should be getting the same war exhaustion as the one that loses battle after battle, none of those battles come cheap.

Besides which allowing less war exhaustion in sucessful wars undermines one of the game mechanisms that hinders massive expansion.

Blockades affecting WE is an interesting idea.

Pirates preying on fishermen? That would be something interesting

Don't like blockading affecting WE, really. It would make no sense to blockade Ingermanland and see Russia WE climbing faster.
