Loading screen stuck at 50%

Hai everyone,

I’m having trouble with my latest save game on the city skyline. Yesterday, after I purchased 2 DLCs (Art Deco and European Suburbia) and the game also had scheduled maintenance on June 29, (08:00 - 13:00 CEST), i continued my last saved game. But now, it stopped at 50% loading. I have waited almost 2 hour and it is still the same.

I have verified the integrity of the files, cleared the steam cache and reinstalled Steam and the game including the 2 DLC I bought yesterday. But the results remain the same.

Did anyone experience the same problem like me after the maintenance and installation of these 2 DLCs (Art Deco and European Suburbia)??

The game didn't have scheduled maintenance, Paradox sites did. I doubt your problem has anything to do with that.

Please gather both these two informational files, and attach them here:

...\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Ohhh I see. While maintenance was in progress, I "accidentally" entered the game and loaded a saved game before I realized that maintenance was ongoing. That’s where screen loading starts to get stuck at 50%.

You aren't using a lot of mods, so we should be able to try loading your save without any of them. Add the launch options -noWorkshop and -disableMods to Steam, then try loading your save. Does that help or is the result the same?

How To Set Launch Options

• Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
• Enter the launch options you wish to apply in the box (be sure to separate each code with a space). Should look like this:
  

  -noWorkshop -disableMods

• Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

I've also had issues with my saves stuck loading at 50%.

Vanilla install + Green Cities, no mods, which has been playing stable for weeks
I start a new "Green Power" campaign on last Sat/Sun, within 2 days and <10k residents my (Steam save) saved game no longer loads, stuck at 50%.
Uninstalled Cities Skyline game
Re-installed Cities Skyline game
GP saved game still no longer loads. My other maps/saves (also Steam save) load fine.
I give up and create a new "Green Power" city and a new (Steam) save yesterday, game saves and loads ok.
I buy the After Dark DLC today, the GP save that worked yesterday continues to work and save, I exit and re-open without issue.
Now I've tried to re-open the save again and I'm now stuck at 50%
Adding "-noWorkshop -disableMods" to launch options doesn't fix the issue.

Do we know why this is happening? It's extremely disheartening to keep losing your city save and defeats the point of the game if you can only play it confidently in a single day.. you can't build much of a city in that time.

Hmm it seems our problems are same but slightly different. I don't know what happened. Now, I regret deleting some previously saved games which the period time is closer to my latest saved game. Maybe after this I will have saved the game as much as possible to prevent this from happening again.

In future always best to start your own thread, as similar symptoms do not necessarily mean the same root cause.

Understood and thank you for the reply. I've raised a Paradox Zendesk support case for this and have added the files there, which I assume you've picked up, unless there are two "AndrewT"s
