  • Crusader Kings II
Here's the breakdown of my problem:

- Crusader Kings 2 via Steam (it's up to date => version ?)
- every time I open a savegame => crash to desktop
- it worked before, now it doesn't anymore
- game is freshly installed (yesterday)
- I used the CKII_UI_Font_Mod
- but: starting CK 2 without the mod and loading these savegames => same result (crash)

How do I fix this ? The game is basically unplayable now. What if start a new game and it happens again ? I don't want to loose those hours...

What if you create the save games without any mods active, does that go OK?

Does it matter whether the save is local or to the cloud?

Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . What checksum do you see a/ in the launcher and b/ in the main game menu?

OK then, what is it exactly that does not work? Because I thought that's what you were referring to. Do you mean loading from the Save Games tab menu (Single menu, Custom game, Load Game, Load sequence) instead of the initial main game menu, something like that?

Thanks for the driver link !

I want to play the game I started a few days ago, not start a new game. But I can't do that because the old savegames won't load. Even if I start a new game, I will probably have the same problem in a few days, which is of course really frustrating.

Savegames I can't load:
the last one and the one before that

Savegames I can load:
Every save game which is older (from my current game + from the game before that)
Every new save game I create (but will new save games also start to be broken at one point ?)

This doesn't make sense to me :sad:

So that's not actually the case? There are just two particular saves that won't load?

It seems likely that some game bug has made those games unplayable. I'm aware of a couple of crash bugs caused by particular actions in the game (you can see them in Bug Reports forum no doubt) but not ones embedded in the saves.

Two choices: you can ask for help over in User Mods forum to see if they can see what problem those files have, or paste in here a link to those games and if I can duplicate the issue I can log a bug report myself.

I didn't know that some saves would load when I started the thread. It seemed that every save was ok until some point in the game when every save after that became corrupted. But now I'm not sure anymore and I can't really tell which save game files are older since some of them are autosaves.

Maybe it was the font mod after all ? I will start a new game, play it over the weekend and check for corrupt savegames.

I will post the result.

Just wanted to say that I played alot in the last days, including a lot of saves and loads. As of today, the error hasn't occured anymore. Hopefully, it will stay that way.
