My load and save times go from 10 seconds to 15. Can you either implement "do not compress" or look for a more performant compression algorithm other than just ZIP?
Yup, that helps to the load game screen, but unhopefully the load / save times are still the same.I clean out my save folder whenever it gets slow. Seems to perk back up after I delete the 4 gigs of saves I didnt realize I had built up
So I'm kind of used to the mediocre overall performance in the late game as I used to be a EU4 player. Stopped playing CK2 by the time EU4 was released, but honestly don't remember the load / save times were this bad. Same with EU4, load / save times are bad, but nothing compared to the current CK2.The compression algorithm (any common compression algorithm you'd find for a zip archive implementation is perfectly fine - you're not going to do better than it very easily) is in all likelihood saving you save/load time, especially if you're noticing this in late-game saves and you have a hard disk instead of an SSD.
If the actual compression algorithm took 10-15 seconds to compress something on the order of megabytes, you'd probably be complaining about the gameplay itself being slower than molasses instead of just the save times.
There's a checkbox for that very purpose in the save dialog. Also, make sure in settings.txt you have:Can you either implement "do not compress"
Yup, you are right. How about non autosaves?There's a checkbox for that very purpose in the save dialog. Also, make sure in settings.txt you have:
compress_autosaves=no

My quicksaves aren't compressed... I figured it follows the "compress_autosaves=no" in settings.txt.Yup, you are right. How about non autosaves?
