Greetings community!

kbH9kiu.jpg

We're hosting a livestream this Thursday the 25th, talking about basic infrastructure, zoning, water and roads.

The stream will feature Colossal Order CEO/Mastermind Mariina Hallikainen and our Cities: Skylines Brand Manager; Jakob Munthe - as well as yours truly.

Whilst we do have a planned schedule on what to talk about, we would like to know what you want to know! So ask away in this thread (stuff related to the stream topic only!) and we might have answers for you in the stream!

You can find our channel here.

Cheers,
John

What kind of infrastructure can we expect from this Cities Skylines?
Can we expect Power Plants as well as Water pumps and Purification plants?
Will we be able to Lay down our own Power lines and Water Lines?
Will Sewers be a thing?
What kind of road types can we expect?
Can we expect highways, Avenues, and other advanced road types?
What other modes of transportation for our citizens can we expect?
In regards to Zoning will there be the classic RCI (Residential, Commercial, Industrial) model from the Sim City games and Real Life?

Will there be water pollution and will it affect our citizens? Will water pollution affect our ability to do other things in the game?

This is going to be my first paradox live stream! So See you there!

Thank you paradox and Colossal order for making this game!

Oo, more video and information? Excite!

Questions that come to mind:

Infrastructure:
- Is there power from waste (i.e. incinerators)?
- Does everything have to be connected to the mains or can small developments survive "off-grid" with on-plot wells/boreholes/septic tanks/generators? Thinking about middle-of-nowhere farms and cottages here.
- Does infrastructure have a maintenance requirement and does underfunding cause service degradation (loss of power, water pipes bursting, potholes in roads)?

Water:
- Do we have both fresh and salt water?
- If salt water is in CSL can we build desalination plants to provide water to our city (uses lots of electricity)?
- How is water replenished for water table/lakes/rivers?

Roads:
- How easy is it to upgrade/downgrade/reconfigure an existing road? It is improved over CiM2's demolish-and-rebuild?
- Can you show us roundabouts?
- Can we build footpaths/pedestrian roads that *don't* create junctions when they connect to normal roads? Or just creates a simple pedestrian crossing point.
- Can we control how a road interacts with a junction? E.g. whether it is a full junction or right-turn-only (i.e. does not cross the flow of traffic to the opposite direction of travel)?

EDIT: Whoops, didn't read the picture properly. Some of my general infrastructure questions may not fit into this livestream.

Will parking be an issue that we'll have to manage?

In many real world cities, parking are a big issue. In many European cities it's almost impossible to find a parking spot. It would add to the whole aspect of transportation if aside from having big enough roads to avoid congestion we'll also have to provide sufficient parking opportunities for the people who wants to take the car to work or leisure/shopping. Or if we want a city with less cars we can, like many cities do, deliberately limit the access to parking.

Hello,
First and foremost... THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS EXPERIENCE!!! From what I am reading I am pretty confident everyone involved on the project (all 9-ish of you) are looking at this as a love child and creating something that has been missing for over 10 years in the city simulation department.

A few questions regarding the topics (some of these may have already been asked so my apologies for double questions)

1. Water distribution, will this be handled in a way similar to Simcity 4 where you lay the pipework to distribute flow? Or will it be handled like the current Sim City 5 experience where its just part of the road system?
2. Road types, I am sure this will be addressed as well... and it was mentioned there will be several types of roads at launch. I am assuming Curve Roads, Grid Aligned roads how about some futuristic road (i.e. Solar Roadways) as the game progresses?
3. City Services: Will there be mini games where you have to work to complete challenges to unlock achievements/rewards? (i.e. put out 10 fires within 5 minutes, cure a disease with an advanced medical facility by controlling research funding.. etc..etc)
4. Zoning: Will there be different types of industries i.e. Clean industrial / Dirty industrial? Clean Commercial / Dirty Commercial? In previous city simulation games often time I will try to make a downtown develop only to find there is dirty jobs that start popping up and no way to fix this without tearing it down or like in previous games ensure highly educated workers are within my city etc.. would be a bit better (i think) to create zones for this.

Thank you so much! My finger is ready to PRE-ORDER today!

All the best to the devs.. And thank you soooo much for the effort you are undertaking (especially after acknowledging the void in city simulation dept). I cannot describe how excited i am, when i heard about this game's production!

Ok, the first and foremost question is, please be specific on the tile size of the cities. Im sure its larger than Simcity, but how large can it be. I kind of understand that we start of with a 2km x 2km tile (size of SC2013) and then we can 'buy'/expand(?). But is there a limit on the expansion and how we expand? like do we just get an extra tile? Will it be as big as CitiesXL maps? it is 10.5 x 10.5 km tile!

Second, will there be region play?

Third, what about trade between our own cities? I know we can trade to an external world, but how about within our own cities? So i can have one city specializing only in industrial goods, which will be traded to another city which will have only commerce.. and vice-versa.. Im thinking it will be more fun to make our cities inter-dependent? (of course im talking about single-player)

Fourth, how much of a micro-management we get in terms of public services? Having as much as Simcity would be cool.. bt if not that much atleast some option for micro-managent will go a long way!

Fifth, how deep will the gameplay 'statistical details' be? will we be able to see how much water/electricity is produced an consumed in the city? (in-terms of physical units.. not some 'tokens'). Is there any other statistics being added extra? (compared to Simcity)

Thanks a lot! and Kudos

Second, will there be region play?

I would like to expand on this question -

If there is region play can we have a friend play one of our pre-made cities while we play our current city? As an expansion or a separate game.

Will we be able to trade resources between regions? (Water, Power, Experienced people/Workers, etc.)

In regards to roads - How will road construction be handled will it be instant or will it take time?
