On the Victory Point map overlay, there's a small red star in some provinces. I haven't been able to find any correlation; they're in some capitals and cities, but in other places they're off in the middle of nowhere.

Manual doesn't work, and it was taken off of replacement docs. The wiki didn't mention it. So I thought you guys might know.

Any idea?

Any province that has VP's worth more than 3, IIRC, has the red star. It may be at least 3, can't remember. But basically, it indicates larger amounts of VP's. You'll notice that capital provinces will have tons of VP's, but no star; that's because it's hidden behind the red circle that indicates capital. Move the cap, and the star will appear.

Thanks for that; here I thought they were gravely important or gave a moral bonus or something like that, but in reality it is of no consequence.

Colon has one too, and 37 American infantry divisions... The entirety of their continental army. That, plus the canal, plus the little red star I get to tack on my banner is far too much to resist. X3

They are of major importance. For example, you can annex a country when you control its capital and all of its victory points provinces. So you can't end the war while they still control some important provinces.
