Little changes in espionage or it is boring to resend the diplomat after three months pass
Problem:
After the diplomat is found building spy network, he is sent for three months from the country. In three months we can send him again back what looks at the same time silly (oh, hi it you again? You promises that this time you won't spin an intrigue? Ok, remain) and forces to click many times sending the agent again. It isn't fun and creates unnecessary microcontrol.
Decision:
1. After diplomat detection, everything occurs as now, that is the part of an espionage network is dumped, but the diplomat remains in the target country.
2. The message is displayed, that activity of our agent is opened, many people and adherents are arrested or sent from the country, and the agent had to go to a deep underground, having temporarily suspended active actions.
3. The country, that send the agent, gets temporary modifier of -80% to the "Spy network construction" for a period of one year. That is construction of a spy network will continue, but much more slowly.
Notes:
a) Why penalty of -80%, but not -100%. In order that there was a sense to leave the agent after detection, even if you have no spymaster advisor or espionage ideas. Otherwise the diplomat will be withdrawn and returned into place only after a year is passed. And we will return to what we have begun with.
b) Why for a period of one year, but not three months. Because the spy network will increase all the same, despite detection.
Advantages:
1. It is less microcontrol and unnecessary clicks of a mouse.
2. Bigger immersion in game. Because a situation when you already 5 times in two years send the diplomat to others country, and he is "expelled" over and over again looks a little absurdly.
3. Big appeal to have the spymaster advisor and to have espionage ideas or policies. Because having them we all the same will build the spy network and that is much more interesting then simply wait for three month.
Problems:
1. Having strong espionage ideas, advisors and traditions, we in any country will create the 100 spy network.
Why it is not really big problem:
1. We when took all these bonuses wanted to reach this effect.
2. At present mechanics we all the same will make the same, only often being distracted by unnecessary clicks by a mouse and remembering time when the diplomat needs to be sent to a task again.
3. Moreover, this problem can be solved by means of counterespionage!
Counter-espionage or we remove boring diplomat action and do it useful.
Problem:
1. Present effect (counter-espionage diplomat action), namely increase in random chance of "Foreign spy detection" quite not interesting action. It is boring and doesn't give to the player visible advantage for full expenditure of the diplomat for a long period. As we only increase random chance which all the same doesn't depend on the player in any way.
Decision:
1. Counterespionage begins to create a counter espionage network in the opponent's country. It varies from +0% to +50% and increases the cost of all espionage actions of the opponent by this percent (doing some, especially expensive actions even not possible).
2. Speed of creation of a counter network has to depend on a difference in "Foreign spy detection" and "Spy network construction" modifiers and to be created slowly.
3. Speed of decay of a counter espionage network if the diplomat isn't engaged in this action any more, has to depend on a difference in "Foreign spy detection" and "Spy network construction" modifiers and to decay quickly.
Note:
a) It will be in my opinion interesting if very high levels of protection against enemy spies allow to create a counter network quickly enough to deprive of the opponent to use the most dangerous espionage actions before he will gain necessary amount of a spy network, especially if he has no bonuses on espionage. To the contrary, if you have no bonuses on counter espionage, and the opponent is very strongly ground under espionage activity, he will manage to achieve what he wants before counter espionage network will build (though sooner or later the counter espionage network will reach the maximum, creating problems to the enemy).
b) The spymaster adviser, perhaps has to give also a bonus on creation of a counter network.
Advantages:
1. The "Foreign spy detection" modifier gives visible advantages which want to be received, but not to hide behind boring random chance over which the player is all the same not imperious.
2. There will be opportunity sooner or later to be protected from the most dangerous covert actions of the enemy.
Problems:
1. Having once created a counter network of +50% we can support it infinitely (nevertheless we spend for it the diplomat and if to recall him even for a while, then the counter network will very quickly fall into decay).
2. It is necessary to teach AI to use counterespionage.
3. It is necessary to inform somehow the player, that he can make these or those espionage actions again. Otherwise he should check every time it manually that not conveniently.
Notes:
1. It is possible to make events on decrease in a counter espionage network at a high difference between attack and protection against spies.
2. It is possible to make an events about capture and expulsion of the enemy diplomat (and for example within 5 years he can't build an espionage network any more) at a high difference between attack and protection against spies.
3. "Agitate for Liberty" doesn't depend on the target country but on the country of the vassal. What is bad as we can't potentially protect our interests with our counter espionage network. Perhaps it should be added interaction action with vassals to "promote censorship" which will help to protect from propaganda.
