Hello, I will try to play as Lithuania, this is my first AAR
My goals are not very ambitious, but might widen as I progress:
*Sell province of Podlasia to Poland at the best possible price (It is the only province with polish culture + only 2 base tax.)
*Do not lose Russian, Belorussian and Ukrainian lands
*Try to get all old Prussian, Latvian and Lithuanian lands.
*Break from Personal Union with Poland
*Weaken Golden Horde and Muscovy - the biggest threats nearby.
The start of the game was both good and bad: Lithuania starts with 4 provinces occupied by rebels and 0 stability, so I had to split my army of 13 divisions to retake them. Since my serfdom-freesubjects slider was -5 (complete serfdom), I wanted to fix this, and moved slider to free subjects. This got me -1 stability.
With 4 provinces occupied by rebels and -1stability an event shot out, which got me even more rebels. I had to fight them all the time until 1401. Poland helped much when rebels were close to their borders.
The good part is, our king died ! Polish - Lithuanian union is no more, so early in the game. Though the alliance is still in place. Now I'm finishing my rebels and Poland is trying to annex Mazovia.
1402: Alliance with teutons. -3 stab
1403: Temporarily ended rebellions, Mazovia annexed by Poland.
Poland declares war: Poland*, Lithuania against Teutonic Order*, Livonian Order.
I had to choose my allies and I chose Poland, because Livonia and Teutons have provinces of my culture. (and it's historical)
Lithuania has to juggle between fighting Livonian Order and it's own rebels. Actually - more than half of Lithuanian army is used to fight its own rebels. We crushed Livonian army, but rebels crushed us.
No, I'm not planning to restart
After few more months Poland and Teutonic signed a peace treaty, by which Danzig becomes an independent state. Lithuania gets nothing except 10 rebellions to fight.
As expected, Ukraine is independent state and is now at war with us. Luckily they did not get Kiev. My plans for them: Take one of their provinces and vassalize.
And one more new thing - 1408 I sold Vyazma province to Muscovy for 500. Because it is worthless (2 base tax), rebellous (highest revolt risk in whole country) and russian cultured (which is unaccepted by Lithuania), plus it's a non-core province. I got 500 for nothing, really.
It's already year 1411 and Rebel fighting still continues (don't think I'm a complete looser, it's because Lithuania has distracted government, mixed cultures, mixed religions and some minor events that make it real hard.). Surprisingly Lithuania managed to defeat and annex Ukraine. Now, with our new leader and slightly rebuilt army we should crush those rebels seriously. After that, stability will be issue number one. (Though It's already financed by 100% slider and level 4 artist). Also, Lithuania is not some barbaric state - it negotiates with rebels and will agree to release Polock as a vassal (with three provinces with base tax: 2).
Yet another loss for Lithuania. Zygimantas Augustas wasn't the miracle people expected him to be and Lithuania lost three wars in a row. The war with Polock was very hard and wasn't as exhausting as for us. In fact their small army managed to press us to give them the additional province of grodno, thus dividing Lithuania into two separate lands. Is if that was not enough, Ryazan and Ukraine wanted their own countries too. Zygimantas managed to beat Ryazan into vassalization (They got only Kursk, poor province), but Ukrainian army proved too strong and they ended up independent with province of Poltava (poor province). In the middle of these wars Lithuania had to fight Teutons and Livonia again (Polands ambitions). Luckily we managed a white peace.
I don't know where this is getting me
For now I must lower my war exhaustion.
